If you are gonna pay that type of money for a cooler, look also at Frigid-Rigid. The South Florida crowd has used them for years. They are not pretty, but they are effective...http://frigidrigid.com/

Re: If not YETI, then what?
This was kind of my whole thing with wanting a Yeti. I've broken and lost and forgotten to tie numerous coolers down. Thought process was buy one good cooler and lock it down in the truck and not have to worry about breaking it for hopefully a long time. Definitely won't forget it anywhere since it costs so much. Those others listed look just as tough.skywalker wrote:I want something I can beat around in the boat and in the back of my truck. I have gone thru some colemans and igloos.........

Exactly why I have a Yeti. I break cheap stuff!

Engell, K2, Pelican, etc were not "mainstream" when the Yeti Craze hit and are playing catch up with Yeti's popularity/marketing!

Igloo has one called the tundra I think? It seems to much higher quality than igloo you are probably familiar with.
Seriously though, can we not joke around about this??

I'm selling hats that say "I don't own a Yeti"----let's face it . for some people it's just as important... BTW T-shirts that say--I don't use spinners, I only use cheap 2 3/4 in shells, No stickers on My truck......... the anti click is still a click and before ya'll hammer me I have a K-2 , rare use of a spinner, love the cheap shells, only one sticker on My Truck (not hunting related- or the little dude pissing on sumpn) group hug at 5pm during happy hour "can't we all get along"

Must have hit a nerve with the old boy. Maybe he doesn't have any more for stickers on his truck.
Re: If not YETI, then what?
yes, we can joke, see my comment on sea donkey's thread. I knew some ribbing was coming, but I still wanted some input on a nice cooler before dropping some $$. I went and handled a K2 on my lunch hour and I liked it. Not as 'heavy' as a Yeti, but would fit the bill I do believe. My wife is insistent on getting me the 25qt Yeti, her $, so she can buy what she wants. Just doing some homework on it.......

Re: If not YETI, then what?
I got two of them. Great coolers for what they are. Expensive? Not if you win them. They arent great beer coolers. They are, however durable, the lids dont break off of them, they hold ice forever, they dont slide around or fly out of the truck when empty. I also have two yeti stickers that aren't stuck to anything. I do have stickers on my coolers of places I've traveled. I dont have stickers of my coolers on my truck. Who the flock cares, I dont? It takes more than a sticker on a truck to make someone a douche bag...BUT...if the shoe fits
Skywalker...get the 45. A 25 is nothing more than an expensive lunch pail or beer cooler.

Yeah the 25 doesn't hold much. Good to keep in the ride for drinks while driving. Not good for a bunch of beer. Like Vickers said 45qt. Anything bigger is pretty heavy to lug around when full by yourself.

Re: If not YETI, then what?
I need something smaller so the 45qt may be the ticket, the 60-70 look huge and heavy. I dont drink alcoholic beverages, never have, never will, so no worries there. More for long days in the field with a few waters, gatorade, sandwiches and maybe throw few bream/crappie in from time to time. Just want something durable.
The 37qt bayouicebox looks about right, but out of stock and no return phone call on when they will be in stock, so we shall see what the 'mrs' comes up with. I'll be happy either way, just no more junk coolers that I can break in 2 weeks.

Re: If not YETI, then what?
Anything over a 45 is a two man job when it's full. They quit making the 25qt. That's why I kept mine. The 35 qt might be my next purchase, but I'm leaning towards a Pelican, $232 free ship.
