Didn't law enforcement say the same thing when concealed carry first came to pass?

Some lawmakers said it's too dangerous and would leave law enforcement outnumbered

Did we really see that with concealed carry??? I'm wondering if I will ever feel the need to open carry? I'm thinking not, but I'm glad the law might clear up any concealed carry gray area of inadvertent open display.

I know it would take a law, but personally I think if you voted for a bill that became law - you shouldn't be able to sue to block said law.

Horhn has basically admitted that he is either stupid or incompetent. Either way he shouldn't be allowed to be a legislator and if had an ounce of integrity or common sense would resign after such a moronic move.

If I was a wealthy man I would pay for an ad quoting his vote and his reasons for the lawsuit in and on every newspaper, radio station and television station in this state.

I read somewhere, and I may be incorrect, I need to research this - that there were no 'nay" votes on this bill. It'd be interesting to see who is against it that voted for it. Horhn isn't the only one that voted for it but is now against it.

Careful. Because the MS Constitution gives you the right to open carry and then says the State can make laws in regards to Concealed Carry.. The Concealed Carry laws as it is now, says the firearm must be concealed in whole or in part. So as of now, with the injunction if you walk around with your firearms in a holster without a permit you are violating the concealed carry law.. Not the MS State Constitution....

There hasnt been a whole lot to change but the hype about it all and ignorance of those who will not actually take time to read the laws and what has changed, will cause the problem. Hopefully that will only go on for a few months and they'll go back to the hood and trailer parks with their "weapons". I work at a bank....I dont care to see a gun.

the AG has appealed the ruling to the supreme court asking that the injuction be vacated. justice randolph has ordered the gun grabbers to respond by 5:00 this evening.

after reading the AG's petition for interlocutory appeal, it seems that the AG is now saying that citizens have, and have always had, a consitutional right to open carry, which appears to be directly contradicting the previous AG opinion that said if any part of the gun that is concealed, the carrier must have ccw permit.

The judge said the law was "constitutionally vague" and is leaving the injunction in place until the next legislative session.

I honestly don't think this is a bad thing and certainly hope that the legislature goes back and clears up the open carry and concealed carry law. From a law enforcement and general welfare perspective, several issues need to be cleared up - for example, under the open or concealed carry, can such a person have it on educational grounds or city parks etc., can private property owners/facilities or the state prohibit it on certain premises, can it be carried while one is drinking or using drugs, can the police stop someone openly carrying a gun to ask questions to determine their past criminal background/intent (as thinkgs currently stand, this is not the case). I am certainly not worried about my fellow msduckers and other law abiding citizens, but its the others that concern me and this needs to be made clear in a new bill. Although the concealed carry (House Bill 2) attempted to clear up what is regarded as "concealed", both the open and concealed carry laws need to be better written and clarify several issues such as those above. Just my thoughts.

I will be glad when this whole thing blows over. Right now, we have more and more businesses putting up signs that ban weapons in a knee-jerk reaction to the law, and a bunch of loud-mouth rednecks itching to tote their squirrel guns down Main St. (A La, the picture we had on another thread.)

I know it's wishful thinking, but can we please get someone in the Legislature, and/or a Hinds County Judge to use their brain? I know it's asking a lot, but really...Seriously?

I thought all the ignorant ass people were felons and not allowed to own or carry guns?
