I agree with duckdawgn.

I have used purina puppy chow on all of my dogs (retrievers and cattle dogs) until they were at least one year of age.

A friend of mine has the dogtra and highly reccomnded it to me. I myself am still training "Amish" style.

I have a new pup and have thought seriously about getting one of the dogras for him

the roundup folks just haven't put up the $$$$ to have it labled for aquatic use. I suppose they have so much of the ag market that they don't want / need to fool with the $$ and hassle of getting it labled for aquatic use.?

"Water Dog" works. I have a 5yr old BLM that has done a great job for me retrieving and bloodtrailing. I have 6 month of BLM that I have started and is doing great.

One of the few things that I changed, is that I send my dogs to retrieve by a voice command and Mr. Wolters used the whistle.

How did you and your dawg do at the test? I ended up not making it there?

I am going to run my dog in the test Sun. It will be our first test also.

I would highly recommend the book "Water Dog" by Richard Wolters. It will take you through the process step by step. It can be found at most bookstores. Overstock.com had the cheapest price on the book that I have seen. I used this book training my first one and he turned out great. Talk to the guys ...

I am not sure about the rules, but I am interested in running in a test. When is this test in Flora? Is is at Kearney park farms? I have been to one there before but just watched. I have an "old timer" dog (5yrs) and I just think it would be fun to try him in a test.

If it were in season, backyard or not I would have gone in and opened up the gun safe.

Out of season, you did the right thing. That idea of trapping him and then removing the band? Sounds good to me. I would like to hear someone report that one. "Yes Ma'am Band #8731009" "kill location?" "well ...
