dog limping

I noticed yesterday afternoon that my 5 yr old male was favoring his right front leg. I really didn't think much of it. He is always running around and we play fetch regularly. This morning he was worse and he is still limping pretty heavily tonight. I have looked him over pretty good the best I know how and there is nothing wrong with his pads and there doesn't seem to be any swelling anywhere on the leg. I can poke, prod, and squeeze his leg all the way up to the shoulder and it doesn't seem to bother him. Any other ideas?

Had same situation with mine about 5 months ago. Turned out he tore his ACL. He is 9 yrs old and was just getting to the point he didnt need to be jumping around a lot.

My buddy's dog is 4 and started limping around like you say. He took him to the vet and it is the ACL. Not cheap.

Take him to your vet to look over. Could be a soft tissue issue or tendon issue in his shoulder. But only your vet is going to be able to tell you. Can't be his CCl because it is his front leg. Good luck with him and I hope you get good news from your vet.

thanks for the replies guys. I wanted to take him to the vet but I decided to give it another day and if it wasn't any better I would take him. Well, it was better the next day and then he stopped limping all together. He is now walking and running normal so thankfully it wasn't anything serious.
