bout to have to get a new truck. NOT BRAND New, but one with 30-40k miles on it. Ive been a GM man but am leaning towards the newer tundras. From what I can tell, the tundras are getting better MPG than the nissan and as good as teh GMC-Chevy. Also am thinking bout the Ford FX4 because its an "American made" vehicle. I know its not all american made but you get where Im coming from. Thoughts? My biggest thing is the MPG. I dont need one that will get 13-15. Would like to get 18+

One of our other salesman has a new FX4 and he's averaging around 13 mpg, another has a new Dodge 4wd and he's getting around 15 mpg.

I don't know that you'll get that good from the Tundra. Maybe a 2-wheel drive or the one with the smaller engine. I'm not getting anywhere near that although I did go up a tire size which hurt and I'm sure my speedometer is off a little bit and that probably is affecting it also.

The GM / Chevys have the deal that reduces the number of cylinders used on the highway and I'm sure that would help your MPGs.

Not trying to steer you away from the Tundra - I love mine and wouldn't want any of the others for what I do with it. That said, if your buying for gas mileage - I would look at something else.

One other thing to consider - mine is an '08. Somebody with a newer model may have a different opinion.

I've got an FX4...I love it, probably the best 'big truck' I have ever owned, but gas sucks and it rides like a log waggon...rough as chit!

My next truck with be a Tundra

I have a 2010 tundra 4x4 off road package and it gets around 16 to 17 mpg. I dont baby it are it might do better. I have the double cab and it has lots of room , have about 60000 miles and no problems so far.

I really cant seem to find myself not pulling a trailer lately but with that said my 5.7 09 tundra gets about 12-14 pulling ANY trailer and about 16-19 if you watch your driving style without a trailer.

Other than that I love it.

I get almost 19mpg in my 2007 Tundra with the 5.7, but it is 2wd. It does have the TRD package, so I am sure it weighs almost as much as a 4wd. I wouldn't trade it for any of the others right now.

Country, my Tundra is set up like yours and I used to get 18-19 but it has dropped down to 15-16. Driving habits the same, not sure what else might have changed.

Don't go Ford just cause it is "built in the U.S."

Titan: Canton, MS
Tundra: San Antonio, TX

With that being said I have a Titan and have no problems except for the gas. I had 2 F150's before and the Titan has more power than either one of them, but then again I am partial because they do pay the bills every month.

Man, I sure wish I could get the fuel economy some of yall are getting in those Tundras. Im getting 14.5 around town and lucky to get 16 on the highway. I may need to get mine checked out. It's a 2009 5.7 4x4 no TRD. I check the milage every other fill up because I get compensated for my fuel usage. I have stock tires, clean air filter regularly, monitor air pressure in tires, and pretty much drive decently, but this truck sucks gas!! I have thought about the K&N, exhaust, and chip, route but havent followed through with that. On another note I love the truck, has the power when needed, and can tow a freakin load!!

I have an '08 Tundra 4x4 and with the winter mud grips I average about 13 mpg and with the summer street tires I average about 17 to 18 mpg. I am running Cooper mud grips right now and those things weigh a ton! I love the Tundra however, I wish they would come out with a half ton diesel Tundra Crewmax with a 6 foot bed in the US. As much as I drive, it would save me alot on fuel and the engine would last longer. I have the Crewmax and it definitely has the most room out of any of the ones you listed. It rides like a Caddilac and pulls like a mule.
