The World's Largest Army. America's Hunters?



The state of Wisconsin has gone an entire deer hunting season without
someone getting killed. That's great. There were over 600,000 hunters.
Allow me to restate that number. Over the last two months, the eighth
largest army in the world - more men under arms than Iran; more than
France and Germany combined - deployed to the woods of a single
American state to help keep the deer menace at bay. But that pales in
comparison to the 750,000 who are in the woods of Pennsylvania this
week. Michigan's 700,000 hunters have now returned home. Toss in a
quarter million hunters in West Virginia, and it is literally the case
that the hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest
army in the world.

America will forever be safe from foreign invasion of troops with that kind of home-grown firepower.



Hunting - it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of
national security!

there was a military leader that said attacking America on it's on soil would be crazy considering there is a gun under every rock. I will find out who he was and his exact quote.

I think is was Admiral Hiroeto or something like that. He was a Japanese Commander in WWII that thought they were crazy to poke us in the eye with a sharp stick. He was right!

Wow that's great. I was one of those 600,000 hunting Wisconsin this season. I will say those were the safest guys I have ever hunted with other than my dad. They wear full head to toe blaze orange including gloves. They like to do man drives in the middle of the day and everyone switches to shotguns for the drives. Everyone has a radio and constantly updates on their position. It was a fun season. Saw lots of deer and snow but nothing came out worthy of my shooting it.

Does Wisconson require you to "check-in" your kills ?

I'm not crazy enough to think I could fend-off a platoon of well-equipped militia with a deer rifle, a Model 12 trench gun, a 45 ACP and a fillet knife. Now, maybe my wife could.

I'd have to get creative with some well-placed honeydew melons out of my dog training dummy launchers (wingers)......as a diversion, of course.

Now, I'm pretty deadly with a casting rod and a Lucky 13. I've drawn more human blood with that than any weapon known to man.

Yes, Wiscon law requires you to check in every deer that is kiled. The check in station that we use is a Cenex gas station in Colfax.

Wisconsin has zones where chronic wasting disease has been detected. They check their deer and I believe do random brain tissue sampling to determine if the disease is spreading.
