Full moon
Full moon
What days would you guys rather hunt. the week leading up to the full moon or the week after? Trying to decide on which week I'm going to go to Illinois this year.

Re: Full moon
if you're hunting in a stand all day then don't worry about it, but if you plan to hunt morning and take a break b/t the afternoon hunt then I would say the week leading up to a full moon. The big boys move b/t 10-2, that's when I've killed my bigger deer.

Re: Full moon
i'd hunt all day if i were you. if it's rut or real close to rut then i'd say it doesn't matter that much, if i were going early season or post rut then i like before. and i'd hunt daylight till noon or so. come out for an hour then back after them. my 2 cent's. fyi it's worth the price you paid for it

for exmaple you could kill a 4 greenheads (two banded), a mallard/black cross, and a mallard/gaddy cross and smash a hot blonde on the way back to the ramp and call it a hell of a day

Re: Full moon
get in the stand about 5PM and hunt till about 12am if it is a bright full moon

Re: Full moon
Moon affects deer to an extent. I have and always will say you kill your biggest bucks when the moon is overhead. I have had several big ones slip up during this time. Including my 190" on our ranch in South Texas. But Mississippi has been known for middle of the day. Deer pattern our routine and know when we are or aren't there. So throw them a curveball and hunt out your typical pattern
