Anybody been hunting or doing any good at the Sunflower WMA? Is it full of water yet? I tried calling the area manger number listed on the MS Wildlife website but got no answer. Thanks guys!

No water equals no ducks. Last weekend I heard more rifles being shot at deer than I did shotguns being shot at ducks.

ps--I'd be real careful about asking about specific management areas and if any ducks are being taken there. Just a little friendly advice.

I appreciate your help. I really just need to know if there is any water there or anywhere. I am not going to make a 5 hours trip just to find out that there is no water to hunt in. And for the people that are die hard about their state and do not want "outsiders" to come over, don't worry, I am not that good of a shot so I doubt I will knock a dent in the duck population. Thanks

Why is it that we are to be careful about asking about a specific managment area and if birds have been taken? Is'nt this site going to have a hunters report section soon? What the hell will we put on that site,"wo'nt tell where or how many so as not to offend"? What do you all think the reports are for? On waterfowler.com we put info on where and how many and no one bitches at us. What if a few people come in from out of state and drop a buttload of money while they are here into the local economy? From what I understand, some places in this state NEED their money. I hunted Sunflower greentree on Sun. the 23rd. water was shallow but coming in as they were pumping. We saw and killed Woodies only. I hope this helps , and come on and spend your money . Even at the casino if the mood strikes ya!!!! :D

You the man Mudsucker! I come out for a week and bring 3 or 4 others with me. Between the 4 of us we pump at least $2500.00 into the local economy. We just don't have the ducks here. I love M.S., beautiful country and frirndly people!

Greenhead Chaser let me know how you do. Good luck!!

mudsucker, The WMA issue didn't just happen today. Come if you want to with KRT or stay at the house, whatever, but there is no value whatsoever in broadcasting specific WMA info. to seven zillion eyeballs. Many of us already had enough of the crowds, can't see the sense in hyping duck reports and dogpiling people up.

Whatever's being pumped into the economy by these duck hunting high rollers is enough, don't need no mo thank you very much. Everybody's already got two yachts, three houses and four wives as is.

Well does my 12 sears flat count as a Yatch? I do have 2 houses, but not three and I can not afford the one wife I do have  So as I figure, booger, I am owed a couple of yatchs and another house. You can keep the other wives out of the picture as they are TROUBLE. Should I apply to the Gov. for what I am due, like welfare or something?
As for you saying come if I want, I do go and pay more than my share of MS taxes to use the WMA. If you will look at where I am from it is in MS! As i have said before, "The WMAs will be full if we talk about it or not as some of us can not see paying thousands of dollars for some pisspoor hole". Have a nice day 8)

Make connections with a couple of folks and communicater specific infor via PM's, not on the open forum. I have helped a couple of great hunters get to some locations but I don't want fifty folks going to the same spot. All you have to do is be smart. The idea is to get the info, not let every body in a 7 state area get the same info. That's all. We can do both.

Posting harvest numbers or duck numbers about a "specific" location is not that great of an idea. I see it happen on our duck forums here in SC. The issue is not one of being greedy etc. etc. but trying to preserve a quality hunting experience. The more people that find out, the more likely hood some rubberheads are gonna come in and spoil your hunt. I hunt in AR mostly and I don't need anyone to diviluge(sp) anything. I find my holes through a lot of research and usually do okay. But if anybody ever needs someone to accompany them on a duck huntin trip on an oxbow off the MS river I wouldn't turn down my dream hunt either!!!:D:D:D

I totally agree Crow, you shouldn't broadcast specific info over the net for eyeballs to see. Thats not where I.m coming from. I've been coming out for 6 years now, bought maps, road miles and miles, probably walked as many and met some very considerate people that now help me plan a better time to come. I damn sure don't go back and offer all my time and hard work to other hunters to come out and enjoy what I work so hard for!
Now I might say yeah there's some ducks but I don't say hell Sunflower is loaded with em especially such and such Greentree impoundment.

Getting back to the original question-- How long will it take to get water into the GR's?

I think that's what some of these folks are afraid of. You'll sit there and sky blast all morning long

Welcome to the forum, and good luck!!

Well they have no reason to fear any skyblasting from me. However, I am sure there are some people from MS that do their fair share of skyblasting. That is what happens when you hunt public land. It is not just in MS, it is everywhere.
