Need to get rid of muskrats in our ducklake-they are putting holes in our levies.Any suggestions on how to make sets etc.?The lake is shallow(2'-30")and is bordered by a slough 4'-5' deep.

I now they are a big problem south of where I live, so much to the extent that the state pays $4 a tail bounty on them for the same reason that you are having problems with them. I know they trap them but I don't know what kind of rig they use, you may try a conibear trap like folks use for beavers, there is probably someone here that could elaborate more on this than I can.

They are not hard to catch. Use small conibears or legholds in trails and entrances to tunnels. They will chew out of legholds if you do not check them regularly.

110 Conibear or 1 1/2 foothold will work wonders on them. Trails where they leave the water or den entrances work well. You can also set the runs where they travel along the bank in the flooded grassline.

If you are not finding many runs and tunnels they are using you can make your own. Make a box out of plywood about two or three feet long just big enough for a 110 conibear to fit in the ends of it and cover it with grass and brush. If you have a lot of them you can catch one in each end some nights.
