New ATV or UTV?

My 4wheeler has essentially died and I kinda want to get something at the end of summer (counting my new summer job pays better  ) Im really only looking at the yammahas

If I get a atv it will be the grizzly 550. LIke the fuel injection...tired of fooling with carbuerators (sp)
Recently my buddy bought a Rhino 700..I really liked it..it is a lot more useful around the farm. It was nice being able to carry three folks, dog, and two cases of dove shot and not worry about strapping anything down, and not loosing the load going down a hill..but for our annual bonfire trail rides with my friends the 4wheeler is a better option (and more fun :D )..I can MAKE a 4wheeler work for me

Which should I get? The vehicle may leave the farm 5x a year at most, for hunting/trips

Here's my list of pros I see for each
4wheeler... more manueverable trail riding, ease of getting point A to point B in truck (although realistically dont do as much as I used to), PRICE.

UTV: hauling decoys, dogs, people, more capable due to longer wheel base, STOUT, roll cage, getting firewood to the house without scratching the truck

Would building a hitch carry caddy make the atv just as practical as the utv?

Suggestions..this vehicle will have to last me a long time, I can't buy and then be wishing I had got the other

Come next summer I will be in the same position your in now, and I can tell you I will be leaning towards a UTV for several reasons. I will say this, get what YOU want!!!!! Do it like you would do a boat, get something that works for you 90-95% of the time and live with the other 5-10%.

If you do get the 4 wheeler go ahead and get the 700. The 550 and the 700 are the EXACT same bike other than the motor. You can find the 700 for close to the same price. I have a Grizz 700 and love it. You can never have too much power. :D

Sounds like you already want ATV. You can add a basket/drop rack or a dump bed to it and be close to hauling like a UTV. Yea the hitchhaul will help with dekes. If you build yourself you can make it like you want.

If you go UTV Rhino or Ranger.

I have a rhino and really enjoy it. Its fun on trail rides also especially since a passenger can be with you more safely than riding on back.
The rhino is almost as maneuverable as a 4 wheeler in the woods.

If your not going "into" the woods alot then a rhino would be my choice..Just because they are a little smaller than the others..

I have an ATV and I love it, but another reason a UTV would be more handy is if you have kids that go hunting with you.. A little easier to get them in and buckled in and a little safer than an ATV.. Plus you can get the cab encloser and make it a little warmer also.

plus think about this, if you bushhog your trails at camp with a full size tractor then a UTV will easily go down them
