Dryer appears to have bit the bullet today at lunch. It was running one minute then it quit, no smoke smell nothing. One guy said that lent can cause it to do this, any other ideas? Its been a good 8 years so dont want to spend much on a repair.

might be a switch......unplug it and take the switch and have it tested at an appliance repair shop...be cheaper than a new dryer

A thermostat could turn it off if the unit gets too hot - so, check for obstruction in the lint hose from the unit to the outside of the house. A toilet drain auger $5.99 works good.

Going to state the obvious here but be sure to check the breaker. Mine flipped the breaker the other day.

When mine does that is usually means the clothes are dry

Checked breaker box good. Not sure what switch you are reffering to. Checked to make sure the door was closing good, appliance guy said there is a centrifical fuse or something to by pass. I just dont want to drop another 100 on an 8 year old dryer so I know if I cant fix it that will be the min. Going to get some beers and my tools later this evening see if we cant figure it out. That will be the solution cause either it will work or be so screwed up it can't be fixed when I am done.

It appears that it has to be the actual switch as I have fire to them, now to determine which switch.

You did not say what brand dryer it is. If it is a whirlpool, it is probably the fuse. Take the back panel off the dryer, it is held on by 1/4" screws, it is a small white thing with 2 wires going to it, ohm it out and see if it is good.

mine did this a coupla times, the switch on the door is most common, you can short around it to see, other wise its probably the cetrifical thing either way its a cheap easy fix for a good dryer, also check the line to make sure its not clogged, that should always be your first check, then proceed with the more complicated checks
