i have only heard a very little bit about them, only heard them mentioned in conversations but other than that i don't know anything about them. what do you know about them? Sorry, but i haven't been doing much of anything here lately as far as keeping up with new products (or older products whichever the case may be).

Every article I have ready about them quotes tests showing them to be outstanding. They all say that a #6 shot has more killing power than a #2 in steel. I have a buddy that hunted geese with reloaded #6 shot in 2&3/4 inch sheels and swears by them. I would definitely use them all the time if I could afford them (about $1.75 every time you pull the trigger). I will surely try a few this year. Here is their website: http://www.hevi-shot.com/

I purchased a box, and cut some shells open to look at the stuff. Looks like wheel weight, and the shot is not very uniform. I got some 8's through 4's, and the shell was supposed to be #6. Some of the shot was not round, and looked like barbells. However, it patterned tighter than snot on the plate. I will still keep shooting steel, though. I just like to play with the new stuff every now and then.

I read an article about the different types of shot compared to steel. Hevi-shot was the newest and supposedly the best. Not as cheap as steel but one of the cheaper alternatives. 10per box at about $16. Tungsten iron or tungsten polymer matrix was also pretty impressive. One reason i heard it was cheaper was because each pellet isn't cast like steel. But that is just hearsay. I don't think that I'm a good enough shot to justify needing the 40+ yard advantage that Hevi provides. Plus I like my victims to get close before I put 'em down.

Federal came out last year with a Tungsten Iron/Steel shell. You can get a box of 10 for around $12.00 and they are awesome. You have a choice of duplex 2 steel X 4 tungsten or 4 steel X 4 tungsten. I did kill some ducks over 45 yds. last year just checking out to see what they would do.

I know this has nothin' to do with huntin', so this is all I'll say. I live too far to come to these cookouts, but I will meet up with you in Clarksdale 'bout the first of January. Iffffff you want to keep talkin'?!
