Hey guys, i rarely post a thread on the forums but i have to ask question. I have a 14 month old chessie who has always had an outgoing personality but recently her behavior has changed completely. At night she stays in the kitchen with her brother chessie and she acts like she is scared of something. She stays in her kennel and doesn't come out. She was spayed at 10 months so it can't be hormones. The funny thing is she doesn't act like this during the day or during her daily training. this has been going on for five days. When i let her outside to go to the bathroom i have to drag her back into the kitchen. I checked her for ticks--thought she might be hallucinating from lime disease but found nothing. Any suggestions? I can't figure out what has happened.
Thanks for any help......

The only thing that comes to mind is that she is a chessie.

Just had to mess with ya. Ace has went through spells where he gets jumpy in a certain area of the house......maybe for a two or three days at a time he will look at a wall or corner when he walks through a room. I have always figured it is something that he is smelling since nothing obvious has changed.

Any chance the other chessy is aggravating her?

I don't think so--my dog ignores the other one but it is only at night--she acts fine during the day..she acts like she is scared of her shadow--caught her growling at her reflection in the stove door last night...

Have you moved any furnature in the kitchen, changed the lighting, etc.

You may be on to something about being scared of her own shadow! Animals see things different than we do and react to reflections, shadows, shades of colors, lighting, lack of lighting. Animals see things different than we do, something has upset her enviornment. Or something bad has happened to her there and it is stuck in her head. Could be something as simple as a noise, a dropped glass or pan, etc.
