Florida better be careful with that, Ray Naggan will be after them for sportsman money for shooting their share of ducks  This may be why we haven't seen many spoonbills, they may have went west also. :D

Well you have to remember that we have the biggest wetland in the USA (The Glades). There are also a lot of lakes in the state as well (some really big ones too). The ducks winter here from the Atlantic flyway, and while we don't shoot many mallards, we do get a good number of pins, widgeons, divers, and we have a huge population of woodducks in the northern part of the state. We usually rank about 5th in ducks killed every year. Most people think that the entire state is like Miami or Orlando, but it is still mostly rural except around the coast line. In North Florida (Tallahassee) where I am from we are a little town in the middle of 800,000 acres of woods. There are some ducks here and we scratch them out as much as possible.

I lived in Palm Beach County for a little over a year a fews back while we were renovating some stores. Went up to Okeechobee a few times and out to the glades a good bit, just didn't see a whole lot of ducks and very few hunters.

I just didn't think about all the hunting back up North in the state. There were some pretty good looking place up that way.
