dogtra 1200 vs. tritronics flyaway xls

Postby Duck Sniper » Mon Jan 03, 2005 12:58 am

Gonna buy one of the two.. I have read some previous posts here, but need some more advise on which to buy. I read post that they are both similarly priced, but I found the dogtra to be around $279 and the tritronics to be about $399. What options, if any, will I lose by buying the dogtra?
I will definitely hunt with the collar and like the waterPROOF transmitter on the dogtra. If it weren't for that option, I would without question buy the tritronics. So, how much difference does it make that the tritronics is waterRESISTANT nad not waterPROOF? (I know the obvious difference, so no smarta$$ responses, please) Although I am not very knowledgable in regard to e-collars, I have definitely heard of tritronics. I have not heard much about dogtra. Are dogtras worth a damn?

Dogtra are great. Defiently the second best collar made!

Its harder to get used to the big tube transmitter on a TT. But once you do, its MUCH better, like a scaple vrs a buck knife. Its harder to just smash a dog with a dogtra style transmitter.... you gotta make a choice to pump up the volumn.

Hunting, a small size transmitter like the dogtra (or tt sport series) is the cheese. Training, especially yard work, a big tube style transmitter like a pro or a flyway is tops. The tone feature is worthless unless your a reformed clicker trainer, and I think all of the new style collars have a netral setting on the transmitter to prevent accidental burns, a big big plus when hunting. Had an old style dogtra on my laynard thatd smoke ole fatdawg everytime I bent over! Still got that collar, but dont ever put it around my neck anymore. travis

Dogtra- second best collar ever made. I agree
I have had a Tri-Tronics for 7 months and love it!

Just my 2 pennies worth.

I have a Pro 5oo, and a Pro 100. I also have a Dogtra 2000 and a Dogtra 1200. They both are great, but to be honest I like the Dogtra a little more because the transmitter is smaller and has a belt clip and string for hanging around neck or whatever. Because of those features I think their is no doubt the dogtra is easier to deal with during a hunt. Lastly I think the dogtra are a little hotter than tritronics.
