Sweet Lucy

I’ve been intending on sharing this, but just now getting “round tuit”.
So anyway, I first heard of a girl named Lucy 13 years ago on this message board.
She had been mentioned a few times here and there, but took on a life of her own after showing up @ the Wooly Swamp
and hooking up with one of the OG’s of MS Ducks…..love ya gordo! I wasn’t there, but heard he rounded 3rd base with Lucy and on his way home,
tripped over his own feet & the rest is kinda blurry!
So I finally met ole girl 10 years ago & she was everything I had heard. She started hanging around our camp and showing everyone a good time so we made her an honorary member. Eventually, along with the awesome cooking of Donia, she became the theme for our end of season celebration (Sweet Lucy’s Big Cook).
So that’s the backstory to this. What I really wanted to share was this:
Recently while on the road doing some product evaluations, I happened upon this sleepy little town in Middle TN and discovered Prichard’s Distillery.
Knowing they made the treasured spirit that us Waterfowlers have come to know & love, I had to check it out.
I’m not sure what I expected, but it was definetly different from what I saw when I pulled up. It was close to quitting time when I arrived, so only 2 people were there. They gave me the tour and told stories of how it all started……born in a duck blind and a frequent companion on duck hunts, variations of Sweet Lucy were generally homemade elixirs of peaches, oranges & apricots with lots of sugar and whiskey. Great pride would often be displayed by its maker as the bottle made its way around the blind for a sip among hunting partners.
Then ole boy asked me if I knew the Sweet Lucy creed.
When I answered no, he said:
“Now raise your right hand & repeat after me”
“I promise” (i promise)
“That I will never give Sweet Lucy” (that I will never give sweet lucy)
“To a woman I don’t want to see naked” (to a woman I don’t want to see naked)
So I tried a sample of their double barreled bourbon (which was really good), their moonshine (which was average), Sweet Lucy Crème (just because I’ve never had it), and Sweet Lucy’s evil twin ~ Sweet Lucifer (not a bad shot on a cold morning)! Better than Fireball IMO!
Anyway, this board has been dead all week, so I wanted to take some time and share this with the folks that might know Lucy. I thought it was pretty neat.
Here are some pictures of the place.
Cheers! https://youtu.be/619nmuKQp18
