Has anyone here ever had any luck planting sago pondweed in MS? We tried it this year in a beaver pond but haven't been back to check on it yet.

For best results, stock beaver pond with silver carp and plant cogon grass around the edge.

Plant it?
The stuff is awful once established. I won't recommend it. Don is pretty much telling u it's a very bad idea.
But who knows. Throw some pigeeed with a mix of mares tail around the edge and the mix may be awesome. I for one wouldn't but That's me

What I said was in jest. Anytime you start bringing in plants or species that aren't native, it's never a good thing. Of course Silver Carp and Cogon Grass are not native and should never be intentionally brought in. Stick with native plants.

Cogon Grass! That stuff appears to be what nightmares are made of.
I just took a minute to read up on the Sago Pondweed. It seems beneficial for ducks. At first glance, it looks like a weed we had extreme problems with on a fishing pond we had. Guy threw out a mix of "something' during the summer draw down and we never did get it gone. Chit spread like wild fire and over took a very nice fishery. As I said, at first glance, and the memories of he!! came flooding back. It was the equivalent of pigweed in cotton. It just didn't belong in no pond.
To the OP, I have no knowledge of Sago Pondweed. Being it isn't what I thought it was, it may be the ticket.

Thanks guys. I have done a lot of research as far as it being a beneficial plant for ducks. Some say it is literally the number one natural food for ducks. I just didn't know if any of you all have tried it in the past or hunted over it. Not sure if it will work this far south. Thanks again.
