I am not going to root for any of them. I think they all need to just jam together. Those are the best shows to me. When 4 or 5 guys end up at the same place and just start jamming. it is raw, unrehearsed, straight from the soul and full of energy. That is my favorite.

I just got a new allstars cd, Chris just stopped by last sunday and said 'check this out', I don't even know if it is out yet. It is stuff they recorded when they were first getting together. AWSOME. It is the rawest and dirtiest bluesiest stuff you have ever heard them do. Some of it even sounds like it was recorded in a garage. none of it is enhanced.
Check it out if you get a chance.

Rumor has it, Chris Chew is going to do a couple of songs with Pat Green tonight in Memphis

Panic will suck most of those fans up, just like N.Ms All-stars did when Beanland disbanded. JMO

Yep...still have all my old Beanland boots from Syd & Harry's back in the day. Fun bunch of guys...good as gold.

speaking of a jam...I got to see Clapton & Santana on the same stage June 6. Also saw Clapton, BB, John Meyer, Joe Walsh and Buddy Guy on the same stage. Crossroads guitar fest at the Cotton Bowl. I split when ZZ Top came up....too Eliminator Tour for me.

I think Gov't Mule will pick up a good number of fans, Warren Haynes is the man when it comes down to ripping out a good 'ol southern roots guitar solo.

I'm with SBE, when they all play together is when they really show their musical talent. The Mule played some of their best music when they were cycling through bassists after Woody died. I was at St. Louis when String Cheese and Panic played together, except the bassist from SC (nobody can hang with Schools when it comes to the bass). All those people on stage and they still sounded unbelievably tight, possibly one of the best sets I've ever seen.

Any of you boys going to the DEAD in St Louis or Atlanta. I'll be at St Louis for sure maybe Atlanta. I just wish we still had the Spirit of Vicksburg boat here in Vburg. So I could put Beanland boys back on the boat like I did in the past.Those were the really good days. They are having some conflicts so that's why they are not playin anywhere this summer. Maybe a gig before George and JoJo get cranked back up with the Panic.

MS1234, Are you orginally from V'burg? I grew up w/ McConnell and the Halpin brothers running those streets back in the 80's. THOSE were the days...I remember that boat too. 8)

Sorry to burst any bubbles but Government Mule and the North Mississippi Allstars are not "jambands."

No one will replace Phish or the Grateful Dead. They broke all types of barriers. All the other bands mentioned are simply shadows of these two.

Widespread Panic pretty muched peaked when Houser died. I'd be suprised if they stick around much longer.

nobody can hang with Schools when it comes to the bass

Mike Gordon, Victor Wooten, Oteil...just to name a few. Schools is very good, but lets not stick him in god status.

The Panic peaked when Houser died? Houser was a founder nad had his style. But I never saw him on Leno or Letterman shows. The band has a different vibe for the good with George McConnell.I think he adds alot more to the band.They haven't begun to peak. George said they are having a great time and taking this year off to due some work. I look forward to them cranking back up. Granted you are right about The Greatful Dead and Phish but we still have the Dead !
