MSU 2012

Very disappointing year. No other way to put it. Not a real signature win on the resume. Gator Bowl could be a big win IF we had taken care of the Rebels which we clearly did not. Having a QB can throw it is not the answer to all offensive questions. UM beat us a lot like we beat them last 3 years, dual threat with QB running read option and busting a pass down the field when DBs get in too close. Our defense has been sub par all year. The 2 LBs from 2 seasons ago were very very good and we just do not have that talent on the field right now. Love Cam Lawrence but he is not what those guys were. Our OL did not dominate the line of scrimmage in games like you would hope they could. We have good running backs but still are not able to pound the ball. That is true even after completing pass after pass. Our secondary was greater on paper than on the field. NFL DB coach and we still get hit by passes down the middle of the field. We have great athletes back there but something is not right. 2012 will be a season of coulda, woulda, shoulda for fans to remember. That Egg not being housed at MSU should be very motivational for 2013!!!!

MSU beat 4 horrible SEC teams.

I thought your QB looked better than what you have had in the past.

Nothing impressive about this season.

Maybe you shouldn't have fans sticking gimmicky slogans on statues of legends.

You have to earn respect by going out and doing something.

I think because of Mullen and the current AD, State has built up a substantial amount of ill-will in the SEC over the last two years. Getting it handed to you Saturday may be the best thing that could happen to the program as a result. It allows you to "go back to the drawing board" and approach success in a more humble fashion. It also likely means that Mullen is back (I still think he is a great coach...a loud mouth, but a great coach nonetheless).

I think the Egg Bowl will be must see TV for the foreseeable future as Ole Miss is on the rise. I don't think State steps back any either and will likely continue to improve.

Unfortunately for both programs, the rise of aTm and the sustainability of Bama as long as Saban is around basically puts a 3rd place ceiling on both programs IMO.

The SEC continues to be tougher and tougher.

But we did beat those 4 horrible teams. We are better than Missouri. So at least we are better than 5 teams in the SEC. We are right there with Ole Miss and Vandy. That is my glass half full positive spin.

To me the biggest problem with this team is speed. We are slow, slow, slow at every position. No short distance quickness and no down the field speed. That shows up in several ways. Sometimes an O lineman was too slow to slide over one step and pick up a blitzer. Sometimes our receivers cannot get any separation. God bless Cam Lawrence, he is tough as nails and a gamer but he is slow. That goes for all our LBs. Cannot get to the sidelines and make plays. Our DBs were constantly out of position and did not have the speed to close the distance. Especially the safeties. It is one thing if Moncrief was covered and was just making athletic plays. I can live with that. But dang he was just running down the field untouched and no one could stay within two yards of him. We need to make some assistant coaching changes to put our players in a better position to make plays but dang we are slow.

Actually, you never played Missouri, so you will never know. You are rewarded for beating those 4 teams with a potential trip to the Liberty Bowl.

You got pounded by OM and its likely Vandy would have beat you. Hard to say you are "right there" with them.

I agree with everything above so far. Wright and White were two outstanding LBs that made up a huge part of our defense in past years. We do have some lack of speed to the football. Whether that is 'timed" speed or what I do not know, but we do not go get the football like we have in years past. Cam is all heart and is toting a lot on his shoulders. We do have a good throwing QB right now who has not made many mistakes, but not so sure a read/option type offense is still not a better fit for MSU. Makes me want DP to get more snaps in near future. A lot of senior WRs so will see how that plays out. Good stable of RBs. Think OL would do better if we did run the ball more. So much easier for a OL to push forward like on running plays than to have so much scheme work on passing and play action plays. Mullen hopefully goes to work. Think he has become somewhat complacent in some things over tha last 18 months or so.

Why all the hate toward MSU?

Don't mind him.

Just let him ramble. He spends 95% of his time on a subforum of a duck hunting board attempting to get "cool points" by commenting on every post with some useless bs he heard on sportscenter.

Just let him have his spotlight

Don't get mad at me because your team underachieved again.

How many ducks did you kill this past weekend?

Sewanne went 3-7. I had to look it up, but it was well worth the 45 seconds.

Not sure what copy cat state means. But hey, whatever floats your boat.

GO TIGERS!!!
