Ole Miss vs LSU

Alright boys and girls, who is coming down to Baton Rouge this weekend? Can the Rebels spring the upset? I definitely think they could give the Tigers a real close game and with some breaks, could upset the Tigers.

But our offense is showing signs of life and Mettenberger is maturing as a quarterback. Defense is playing well, but has given up some plays and drives in crucial situations (understatement).

An open and friendly invite to any Ducksouther, either Rebel or Tiger or others, to come by the tailgate. Will have some cold beer, some good music and jambalaya. All you got to do is show up, first beer to two or three is on me.

PM me or post up here if interested. Good luck to both teams and be safe traveling.

3 weeks ago i would agree with the idea that we could make a ball game out if it... but mustering a measely 50 or so yards rushing against the dores. not being able to rush against UGA and the 2nd half against the hogs leads me to believe if the same holds true in death valley we will get murdered. simply because i don't think we can let Bo throw 45 times and it turn out well... our Defense is playing hard but to many blown assignments week in and week out.

LSU 40-rebs 17...

i would love to attend but i'll be reelin in some specks and reds!!!

GO TO HELL LSU!!! and hotty toddy!

We have no depth and it is showing here in the late part of the season. We just can't keep enough fresh legs in the game to compete for four quarters. LSU is going to put it to us!

i think it'll be tough for us. not enough size against this team.

I think that Ole Miss keeps it close until the 4th quarter. The State game was close until the remaining minutes when there was a 14 swing due to a 100 yard pick six.

LSU can be passed on. Tyler Russell passed all over LSU. The problem is that those teams that pass on LSU will likely give up an interception or two in the process (see Johnny Football, Geno Smith last year, etc.).

I think the final score will be 31-17...something along those lines with it being a one possession game in the fourth quarter. Ole Miss always plays good in Death Valley. Masoli almost beat LSU. Heck, Coach Os last team almost beat LSU in Death Valley if I remember correctly.

yep. rebs had like 500 yards of offense that game. they turned the play calling duties over that game to ole Hugh Freeze.. rebs shoulda won that game. tried to scoop and score instead of falling on a lsu turnover late in the 4th, only to bobble the scoop and lsu recovered. drove down the field and then they won... does that sound about right?

yep...that was the game Coach O had the team rattling the awning in the visitor tunnel and John Jerry blocked the PAT in the 3rd. Coach O wasn't good for a whole lot but of the few things he did good, he fired up a team better than anyone. That was the most pumped up football team I've ever watched in person. That was more of a mismatch than this years game, but Ole Miss has like 59 players healthy enough to play right now...depth is an issue bad and it shows...this team doesn't have the spunk it had 4 weeks ago. Trouble on the road against LSU....I think we lose by 3 scores without ever really threatening to upset. LSU 38 OM 20

I'm headed over to BR with the wife. Should be a good time. Hope we keep it close, but I plan on having a good time anyway. Been far too long since I've been in death valley. Think my uncle has a tailgate that will be in the quad near the Architecture building. Maybe we can meet up for a beer or 5.

We are in Touchdown Village 2, close to the Ag Center. Pretty good clip from the Quad. PM me for more info. All are welcome. Even got an Ole Miss convert, except for when they play LSU.

For the past 30 years, here is a breakdown of the history of this series regarding games played IN RED STICK:

10/30/1982 LSU 45 Ole Miss 8
11/3/1984 LSU 32 Ole Miss 29
11/1/1986 Ole Miss 21 LSU 19
10/29/1988 LSU 31 Ole Miss 20
11/3/1990 Ole Miss 19 LSU 10
10/30/1993 LSU 19 Ole Miss 17
11/11/1995 LSU 38 Ole Miss 9
11/26/1997 Ole Miss 36 LSU 21
10/30/1999 Ole Miss 42 LSU 23
10/27/2001 Ole Miss 35 LSU 24
11/23/2002 LSU 14 Ole Miss 13
11/20/2004 LSU 27 Ole Miss 24
11/18/2006 LSU 23 Ole Miss 20
11/22/2008 Ole Miss 31 LSU 13
11/20/2010 LSU 43 Ole Miss 36

The Rebels' 6 wins over LSU in Baton Rouge over this period of time are better than any other team in the SEC, except for Alabama and Florida.

Thus, history favors a close game. Except for three of LSU's wins, the margin of victory by either team has usually been relatively small. And the Rebels' strength (passing game) appears to match up well against LSU's only defensive weakness (pass defense).

Yes, the Rebels are a beaten up bunch and very thin in depth right now, especially on the defensive side of the ball. But, when the ball is kicked, I expect the Rebels to fight like tasmanian devils against the chinese bandits for the entire game. For whatever reasons, the Rebels have traditionally played well in Baton Rouge against LSU.

I predict that LSU will win in a relatively close game. But, an upset by my Rebs would not surprise me --- not in this series.

we are banged up and one level deep... I say LSU covers the spread plus a point.
