Re: SEC Baseball 2012
Bianco wasn't the reason for that turnaround. It was because of a certain asst coach he hired. Ole Miss fans will even admit to it.

That makes perfect sense. The backup QB is also always the best QB.Greenhead22 wrote:Bianco wasn't the reason for that turnaround. It was because of a certain asst coach he hired. Ole Miss fans will even admit to it.
Re: SEC Baseball 2012
My opinion of Bianco is that he is a pretty good coach, but has made some decisions to hurt himself at some crucial moments. I think had he had an old school type in the dugout with him that UM would have made it to Omaha a couple of times during those good runs. Is he Top 5? I doubt that he is but surely he is a top 20.
Does Biance deserve the credit for UM becoming a good baseball program? As with everything, it is not a cut and dried answer. He deserves credit for some of it. The coach before him is who really turned a sinking ship into a floating vessel. Bianco just added stability and improved from there.

If he must shoulder any blame due to fact it comes down to him, then same should be said for praise I think...Greenhead22 wrote:Bianco wasn't the reason for that turnaround. It was because of a certain asst coach he hired. Ole Miss fans will even admit to it.
I also think that as fans we can't fully perceive exactly what influence a coach does or does not have over specific areas in question (ie. player execution as opposed to coaching in critical points, asstant coach responsibilities) because we simply don't know enough about what's going on inside. It's all perception and second hand knowledge, unfortunately for a coaches reputation, perception generally is accepted reality.
I agree, his assistants were a big part of his success...his lack of good replacements seemingly a big part of the lull in success...but, I believe as much as he is responsible for not getting the right assistants he is responsible for getting the good ones too, that's part of his job. They didn't just show up and do whatever they wanted to create success.

It's every State fan's wish.....as it was with Orgeron.....that Mississippi signs Bianco to a 30 year deal. Almost....almost....almost......bottom line is that Mississippi hasn't been to the CWS in 40 years. If we want ot count close (as often happens with the Mississippi faithful)....then we need to count State as making a trip to the CWS last year since we were only 2 out away from a CWS appearance.......does that mean Cohen is a top 5 coach as well since he almost made it to the CWS? Just asking
Re: SEC Baseball 2012
I agree, it's the overwhelming measures Bianco is going to be held to until he overcomes that milestone. Nobody is counting close as anything but close and I personally never said Bianco was a top 5 coach (I said Ole Miss likely ain't getting a better coach), and while it is not level of desired success and is a black eye on his resume, the record combined with the number of pro players the program is churning out is a measure of success and sign of a very good head coach. If Bianco does keep winning and eventually starts getting to Omaha, given everything else he has accomplished in college baseball could he be ranked top 5? I think so, and if Cohen wins at the same clip, even if he falls short some times then yeah he would be same...but there quite a few more years left of Cohen on the job to make such a comparison.stitch wrote:It's every State fan's wish.....as it was with Orgeron.....that Mississippi signs Bianco to a 30 year deal. LSU lost two of three to Vandy at home this weekend and now gets to conclude SEC play with a trip to USCe. Unfortunately, LSU is turning into what I thought they would be all along. Decent pitching team with no hitting.

Had someone hitting over .500 heading into the weekend. He left the weekend hitting .478. Had two hits in the three game series.riverat wrote:Deltamud77 wrote:LSU lost two of three to Vandy at home this weekend and now gets to conclude SEC play with a trip to USCe. Re: SEC Baseball 2012
One of my favorite weekends of Miss State baseball.
Re: SEC Baseball 2012
A great weekend for the Dogs. Exciting baseball and hopefully a wave of confidence and enthusiasm going into tournament play. This pitching staff is set up nice for tournaments. Lets hope we can hit the ball.
Is there an outside chance to host a regional in Starkville???

Slim and none unless we make some noise in the tourney. Talking championship game noise.
