Re: Which new pickup?
I bought a NEW 2006 Titan 4 x 4 XE crew cab ( made in canton)from Landers in May of 2006. I have 100,000 miles on it now. It's my company car so to speak. I finnanced through Nissan also and paid $33,360 lock stock and barrel . Heres my experience with this truck.
1. transfer case went out at 80,000 miles ( warrenty was up at 60,000 or 75,000 can't remember) cost me $1200 out of pocket and was fixed by Nissan dealer in Oxford. I begged the Area Nissan Warrenty guy for Oxford MS District to meet me half way on cost. He was addement that it was tough luck. truck was out of warrenty...SOL
2. Back passenger door fills up with water when it rains....didn't figure that out until last year. I drilled a hole under rubber gasket to let water out.
3. Gas mileage is 15-16 highway, city or what ever....can get 19mpg on highway going 59mph
4. Cloth around console pulled out after 15 months on one corner..Upholstry shop said it was not tacked properly.
5. Air vents do not properly seal shut immediately after turning air off...Air will blow on you for 10-15 minutes. kind of aggrevating.
6. Gas gauge went out at 60,000 miles.. I have been driving now for 2 1/2 years by keeping up with my odomitor. At 350 miles i need to fill up.. I have run out 5 times .. Cost to get tank gauge fix is $350..
7. hit a deer 2 years ago at 30 mph and did about $2200 dollars damage to front bumper on drivers side...All plastic and foam..Not trucks fault but a metal bumper would held up alot better.
The truck at time was the cheapest 4 wheel drive i could buy new i thought. I buy a new car/suv/truck every 2-3 years becasue of my company's policy.
I like the Titan's power. I also like the how the tail gate drops..........Unless i get a smokin deal this year...i'm going to pass on buying another.. Alot of things went wrong just "out of warrenty". i put alot of miles on a vehicle and the Titan hasn't held up cosmetically for me. I am the only one that drive or rides in this truck. Other that i was a Titan man until truck got about 60,000 miles on it

Is there really not one person on this forum that would recommend a Dodge? Figured there would be at least on die hard goat fan out there. Guess thats proof why Chrysler tanked first.

Re: Which new pickup?
If you look at the Obama requirements for cars and trucks by the year 2015, all of the vehicle being discussed on here are going to be relics of the past. You will be discussing which smart car works better in the mud. Obama and the democrats are purposefully trying to sabotage this market.
With that being said, if you are going to buy a full-size truck you better get one that you can depend on and Chevy is not going to be it. Just this week it was announced that Chevy will file bankruptcy and quick sale the assets to the government who will then in turn give the company to the unions. They are not even trying to hide socialims anymore or payback for political favors.
I am sorry Chevy-lovers, but your company is done.
If it were me, I would buy a Toyota, and worst case scenario, a Ford. The Nissans would come in a distant third. I mean no offense to any Nissan employees on this board, but that truck has had sketchy reviews ever since it rolled off the lot. I can honestly say I have never talked to anyone who has owned one that was completely satisfied by it. There seem to be many quality issues, such as rattles, parts breaking/not functioning, etc.

chevys are for women and wannabes. go buy your wife a tahoe and get yourself a f150

i had farmed in fords(one gmc but she didnt make it) my whole life until i went off to college when the z71 craze was going on in the late 90s, thought i had to get me one. bought me a big shiny one that drove good up and down the rode to college but when you tried to work in it, it simply fell apart. when i would haul any piece of equipment it would lose and axle or driveshaft. completely broke me of gm products period.
go buy you a f150 and be done with it, best riding, lasting, looking truck you can get

Hey Swamp - if it's ok with you, I would like to use your complaints on the 06'MY ZW as feedback to not only manufacturing, but design as well since both appear to be the root of your dissatisfaction. It's obviously not going to benefit you any (especially since you will not buy another one), but this type of feedback could definitely be used for future improvements. Keep in mind that in 06' the Titan had only been in production 2 years in a brand new plant so some of those issues have since been counter measured. We do take quality very serious here in this plant so this is good stuff! With your blessing, I'm running it up the ladder.
Thanks__sj

Re: Which new pickup?
Absolutely SJ, any feedback or anything you need, i'll be happy. I bought the Nissan Titan because of their reputation first and second "made" in MS thing . I still feel the same way. I understand Canton went through some tremendous CPI stuff and they have worked hard to stay competitive. I still really like my Titan....i'm disappointed i have had to deal with these issues but i 'might " buy another one but i would go against Clark Howard and buy an extended warrenty maybe. I like so many of us here in MS need and want Nissan to make it in Canton. Thanks for the concern about your company and product....that goes along way....take care

Reasons not to buy Toyota:
1. Just over 10,000 lbs of towing.
2. Flimsy frame
3. JAPANESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Get off your high horse. I have owned all toyotas and 1 Chevy Z-71. Toyota was sold with 195,000 with nothing but brakes, tires, 1 starter, and one clutch put in it(standard).
2005 Chevrolet with 102,000 on it, smokin when craking up since 60,000, left front tire sounds like its gonnna fall off from a "non-issue" steering shaft that they refuse to replace, and an ac unit that went out at 36,000....and i wasnt near as hard on it as the toyota....i'd hate to see the "rock" that Chevy's are built like....hey but lets buy American so that they can keep producing these piece of chit cars...instead of letting them know they make an inferior product.
+1 on the Tundra...back to toyota after buying my first, and last, american made car.
JAPANESE???? The V8's for all the Tundras and toyota stuff that uses a V8 are built right here in Huntsville, Alabama... put together in TN somewhere I think. That USA stuff is bunk... Toyota has jobs HERE and they make the best truck. Buy the Tundra. I have a 2000 modle with 140,000 miles on it and have had ZERO problems with it.
Re: Which new pickup?
GMC!!!!
Re: Which new pickup?
Tundra
Been driving one since December '08 and have 54k odd miles on it without the first problem. 4x4 works well, pulls great, rides great and lots of interior. Bigwater loves riding in the back of this truck (crew cab).
I highly recommend this sled.

Re: Which new pickup?
I'll put my 2 cents in.. I've owned a 96 & 02 chevy Z71.. I sold the 96 w/ 175K miles on it and the 02 w/ 150K miles on it.. besides just replacing a few things here and there on them I never had any major problems.. this past July I bought a 2008 chevy Z71 crew cab.. I love this thing its quiet and gets decent gas mileage for a 4x4 w/o any performance stuff added.. And this is a guy whose mom, dad, & brother drive a Ford supercrew.. Take mine over theirs any day..

Re: Which new pickup?
This argument could go on for days. I have been putting 50,000 miles annually on various z-71 since 2004. I traded my 04 at 100K miles, it had a few issues. All the gauges quit working, but GM took care of it. Started running hot, got a new radiator, GM took care of it. Just sold my 07 with 95,000 miles. Had to put two wheel bearings in it, GM payed for it. In a 08 GMC that i inherited from my old man currently. Has about 6,000 miles so far. His truck was stolen in September and he bought the GMC as a replacement. I found the check he wrote for it while going through his stuff, and it was $30K and a little change out the door. He must have gotten some good rebates. Truck is loaded, crew, leather, Z-71, all that. All that said, i always hear well GM wont hold up on the farm, or Ford want hold up on the farm. There are some large farming familys in Bolivar County that are brand specific and always have been. A lot of them only drive Chevy's, a lot only drive fords. Obviously they both hold up on the farm. I really dont care either way as long as the sumbitch cranks when i turn the key!
