I dont think he was trying to say that the dogs dont get excited enough to storm the field in this rivalry, I think his point was that when the dogs were down and out in the late Sherrill and Croom days that many Ole Miss fans were basically too good for the OM/State rivalry. As he stated in his post, many OM fans stated that LSU was their true rival and that State was not deserving of that honor anymore. It has gone from that to storming the field over a game at which one point was discounted because State sucked at the time, now on their climb back up its all of a sudden relevant again.

I follow you but that's the nature of the game. A few years ago, Auburn rattled off 6 straight wins against Alabama. College football is cyclical, some years State will be better, others OM. Like many, I don't hate MSU, always been a great rivalry. I want y'all to do good, where's the pride in beating a 2 win team like OM was last year. I'd rather beat y'all in a "good year" like this one. That's all. Lets hurry this bs up and talk about hunting.

At first I was mad that the Bulldogs lost.....and I wish we could of made it 4 in a row.....so don't take what i am about to say as "I am glad we lost".....but it is funny to watch the Mississippi fans and their reaction to winning. If I had a nickle for every time time heard a Rebel fan say the game wasnt important and that LSU was their real rival......to now watching them charge the field....what changed?

Say what you want about Mullen, but he has pulled the State fan base and the campus together like no other time I can remember in the last 25 years.....and to be totally honest, we have a mojo that U of Mississippi has had many time in the last 25 years, and I think the unity of the Bulldog nation pisses you Bears off. Congrats on the win Bears! For what it's worth.....like him or hate him......but we all need to thank Dan Mullen for putting the spark back in the rivalry

2010 and 2011 and Dan Mullen...that's what changed.

As for the rivalry conversation, for majority of years the OM/LSU games are a lot more highl contested and tougher wins. During the timeframe in which Miss State was really struggling, OM was yearly playing single digit games with LSU, add in the history of nationally relavent games and the border state natural rivalry and u got a situation I which OM fans are easily seeing LSU as a greater threat and traditional meaningful harder fought game. Many State fans took those reactions and ran with it...I don't personally, and I don't think most Ole Miss fan ever felt State wasn't a rivalry but LSU has spent it's fair years as a bigger threat. Mullen and Nutt and the LSU programming all different ways have done their part to change that scope a lot over the past few years, but to deny the points I made is simply avoiding the facts. I live in BR and their are a lot of LSU fans that view Ole Miss as much as a rival as State fans do Ole Miss, it's a natural rivalry that takes center stage for Ole Miss in some years and has done so historically many many times. Perceive that however you want but it's fact, however it doesn't change the rivalry between OM and MSU...that's my take.

no, YOU are missing the point. Whenever State rushes the field when beating Mississippi.....all you ever heard from the Bears is how little the game meant to them and how crazy it was that Bulldog fans rushed the field.......fast forward the clock to 2012.....all those people that said the game didn't mean anything in 2009, that LSU was their rival......are all of a sudden rushing the field in a game that doesn't matter? WTF?

I said the same thing in my previous post, yes it's cyclical. Of course, state will win again soon. You use words like "class" when things don't go your way but you are the same guy supporting your Head coach pointing his finger in the face of an SEC ref, cussing him out and getting a penalty, that's class. It's a game, all in good fun, stop getting your little feelings hurt. Mullen is still the undisputed chicken wing eating champion for now.

this is beyond rediculous, it's like jealous ex girlfriend syndrome. there's 100's of schools that have more than one rival (it's okay, just like it's okay to have more than one woman on speed dial)

I know.....I really screwed up on that 3 touchdown prediction. It never ceases to amazes me how often the obvious doesn't happen......like earlier this year when I was talking to my buddies about all the hot chicks on the Ole Miss campus and that I was certain they elect another "smoking hot" homecoming queen again this year......boy, I screwed that one up too.......my bad
