Re: 2012 SEC Baseball Tourney Central
+1 on wow. Great game other than we once again forgot how to hit the ball after the second inning.
Hats off to MSU ya'll showed some serious toughness out there today, the kind of toughness that puts teams in Omaha.
Worst sign for me is that our rock solid closer all year has been shelled his last 3 games.
Good luck the rest of the way MSU.

I totally agree. I see MSU in Omaha. This team is unreal how tough they are hitting and pitching.

Goody got in trouble when he didn't stick with his curve and slider. You don't throw State majority fastballs. Plus his had very little movement yesterday.
I knew State was going to win when Pollo walked up to the plate with the bases loaded. It was just meant to be. Then Britton finished it off.
And for Holder ........ he's got Jay Powell kind of stuff. Hats off to Lindgren for battling through his nervousness and giving us almost 6 innings.

Hopefully Pollo's good fortune carries over to today and he can give us 5 or 6 good innings. Reed has to be tired so I wouldn't count on him too much. I look for Rout, Fitts, Mitchell (Evan) to see work till we can get to Holder if needed...
Littrell on the mound for KY... Only loss was against us at the Dude this year

I hope Pollo finds his arm slot early, otherwise State will have to pull him by the 2nd or 3rd inning. Evan threw a bunch of warmup pitches yesterday, thus the reason he's not starting.
Re: 2012 SEC Baseball Tourney Central
We may see Daryl Norris some for the first time and don't forget stark.
We are running short but these Dawgs have it and will fight. John Cohen coached harder than any coach in the country IMHO. Some people hate him but he gets everything out of his players. I have full respect for that guy.

Norris and his knee issue will keep him off the mound. Renfroe could pitch, but it'll be like Bull Durham. Fitts and Girodo haven't pitched yet. Routt and Bracewell can throw a good bit today if needed.

Good to hear. As far as I could tell on the radio, LSU was the only team we've played that compared in attendance.DUCK-HUNT wrote:Word from those that are at Hoover is the flood gates opened and it's a sea of Maroon over there...

Gusty performance by Routt in tough situations. Bracewell kept their bats in check too. Adam Frazier is just a beast right now.

HOOVER, ALA. — Mississippi State knocked off Kentucky 2-1 this afternoon to advance to the SEC Tournament championship today at Regions Park.
The Bulldogs (38-22) did not allow a run in the final seven innings thanks to relief appearances by Ben Bracewell, Nick Routt and Jonathan Holder.
MSU built a 2-1 lead in the third inning it never relinquished. Kentucky (43-16) left nine runners on base.
MSU will vie for its seventh SEC Tournament title Sunday at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN2. The Bulldogs will face the winner of a semifinal game scheduled for today between three-seeded Florida and five-seeded Vanderbilt.
Freshman closer Jonathan Holder closed the game with one scoreless inning in relief, earning his ninth save of the season. He stretched his school record scoreless streak to 27 1/3 innings.
MSU used the sac bunt to advance runners and help score runs in the second and third innings. Trey Porter's low line drive to center hopped off the grass in front of the glove of Austin Cousino to score Adam Frazier from third. The single gave MSU a 2-1 lead with two outs in the third.
MSU had five sacrifice hits, including two bunts by Brent Brownlee to advance runners.
Kentucky tied the game on J.T. Riddle's solo home run to right in the second inning.
The Bulldogs left nine runners stranded.
MSU defeated Kentucky for the fourth time, the first time it has defeated a team four times or more since 2003. Sunday will mark the Bulldogs’ first SEC Tournament championship appearance since 2005, when they won the title.

I wouldn't pitch Stratton again. I go with Woodruff or Mitchell tomorrow with Johnny Wholestaff in relief.
