LSU took two of three from the Rebels this weekend and remain solidly in first place in the SECw and tied with USCe for 1st overall in the SEC.

I cannot for the life of me figure Ole Miss baseball out. I watched the game Saturday and from the eyeball test of the Ole Miss team, fanbase and facility, they should be a top 10 team every year and in Omaha at least once every three or four years it would appear. I have to believe that if they can ever catch lighting in a bottle and make it to Omaha, it would become a common occurence from that point forward.

I think Bianco is a Top 10 coach nationally...I just don't understand what keeps happening. Saying that, I am hearing from some of my Ole Miss buddies that there are grumblings starting within the fanbase to get rid of Bianco. Is there any truth to that rumor?

Ball hit the plate, but the home plate ump didn't make the call. The other two umps said foul. Next pitch ..... ball game.

Is that why Cohen got suspended?

From what I've seen on fansites, there are plenty of uneducated fans (I guess is a way to say it) that never cared about baseball before Bianco that now are Internet coaches and know everything and think Bianco can't coach...but I hope anyway, that administration and those that matter aren't of same opinions. Ole Miss baseball ain't getting a better coach than Bianco I don't think.

I do think Bianco made some mistakes in his hiring and in the program when he had lost McDonnell, Lake, and Bunn that has created the dip in overall team achievement last few years, but I believe he's addressed those mistakes and program is back headed in a really good direction. I think his overall body of work deserves a mulligan on couple of those moves, even in the down years the team has been competitive. Realistically, at one point Bianco had 3 different teams that were simply a product of unexplainable bad luck and one or two pitches or innings from multiple Omaha appearances. It's my unwavering opinion those teams were among the best in the nation, without a doubt as good as anyone that moved on to Omaha those seasons and it's Bianco's job to put them in position to execute, several missed opportunities in those teams weren't coaching, the players were put right where they should've been and didn't get job done. That might be something coaches can't say and have to shoulder to the media or public, but as an observer it is what it is...

Cohen was chewing out the home plate umpire when he got the post game ejection. No one at State even knew it happened until the press release came out late monday. Then our great commissioner Mike Slime decided to add a game to that suspension.

I agree, Cam. I think Bianco is a Top 5 coach in the country. I think Horton at Oregon is a runaway #1 (similar to Saban in football), USCe's coach is probably #2, I think Mainieri and Bianco are pretty much a tie for #3 (I think Bianco is typically a better regular season coach and Mainieri is a better post season coach - the script could flip this year though).

Cam,

I also agree. I believe it would be a huge mistake for Mississippi to let Bianco go. He should have gone to the World Series a couple of times. They have gotten a couple of bad (unlucky) breaks. Its baseball, it happens. I firmly believe that if the MSU pitcher had not gotten hit while on the mound when they made their deep run, they would have won the NC. Baseball is a funny game. You can only do so much; you have to have some luck along the way. Bianco has done tremendous job in Oxford. Just look at facilities and attendance. For all the crowing about facilities from MSU fans, OM probably has nicer facilities. The history that Dudy Noble has only can come with time. OM will get there.

I think he is going to be more akin to Dean Smith. It took Dean Smith forever to win a national title. He eventually won two national titles and made numerous final four appearances.

Ok...that is a pretty big statement...doubt he becomes the Dean Smith of college baseball, but eventually they will break out and get to Omaha and will eventually win it I believe.

Think about the Ole Miss baseball program for the previous 40 years prior to his arrival and look at it now. There are not many coaches in the nation capable of that type of a turn around. Ole Miss was literally the doormat of the SECw for decades. They are a couple of pitches away from two world series under Bianco.

If he were at LSU, Arizona State, Texas, Florida State, UF, etc., he would have been to Omaha multiple times and probably won the deal at least once IMO.

Don't let your hatred of Ole Miss cloud your judgment relative to their coach.
