Dag gum.... ya'll can sure have a cat fight over nothing.
You know what I think. I think dude loaded the abandoned decoys up and was going to keep them. But you know what else. I think he did it without thinking. All he was thinking was, those buttholes got theirs. I bet it never even crossed his mind he was stealing something. I bet he simply thought they where a bunch of pricks, that invaded his morning, and was so releaved when the wardens busted them and made em leave, he was laughing his butt off. Me, I dunno whut Id done bout their stuff... but it cretainly never occured to me to bust this guy for stealing. I didnt think of it as stealing, and I bet this guy didnt either. Do you think he'd come on here and bragging about stealing this stuff? No, he wouldn't have, cause he didnt think like that. Is it stealing? Sure. Now that i think about it. But dan, couldn't you have made that point? When you did, the guy said he'd call the wardens. An excuse? Maybe. But more likely, something he NEVER thought of.
Is he guilty of being a theif? Or is he guilty of being happy the way something turned out, and he hadn't thought it through. Theres a difference between someone doing something without thought, and someone doing something out of malice. I'm telling you, I wouldn't have thought it through like that, even if I agree with you now he stole them.
Dan, you see everything in black and white. Your beliefs, your age, and your damn hard headedness don't allow for shades of grey, or someone simply screwing up. Its what I like about you, and what annoys me at the same time. Don't change, just maybe look at all sides sometimes. Your message was right, your delivery all wrong. travis

Read the first thread.... sound like braggin that he got "free stuff" Heres a little story... I was about 14, Dad fell out of the boat through the ice shootin at a duck.... 17 below that day. We pulled dad into the boat and back to the truck we went so as he could get warm. Should somebody have stole our dekes? Point is, how does he know that somebody isnt going to come pick them up? Now if the dekes are still there the next day, finders keepers. Just my opinion. Have a nice day

i've alway's read the post's about people setting up to close to you 'cause they were running late. it always ends up talking about wuppin' booty or trying to ruin their hunt. think about this, and this does not include drunk hunters. how many times do you chit chat with unknown hunters after the hunts over with and find out we all have that duck hunt lovin' bond? next time your set up and ready to go and some guys running late come cruising in try to get them to join you. you'll be doing them a favor as well as yourself. no calling the same ducks or shooting and flairing each others birds. they just might have a few toys in their bag you've been thinking about getting or maybe a trick up their sleeve that would aid you in the future. they might have a hole that would invite you to or some other hunt invite like deer or turkey.
i've met a few people this way and have been invited on some kiiler out of state hunts. it also strengthens our bond and makes it harder for them anti-hunters.
just a perception i thought i would share.

Your message was right, your delivery all wrong.
You are right without a doubt. My delivery has always been my problem and I have little explaination for it short of that is how I was taught.
Regardless of weather this story is true, really was thieft, or a bad judgement call it was wrong in all cases.
I can't count the times on my hand that I have found decoys left in the field and never touched them. Ramsey and I passed through a set this past week that surrounded a spot that was ours for years and then these yahoo's moved in. They had several dozen decoys and a soinner still on the pole and they were gone. Never did it cross my mind to take them, mess with them or anything. (They were not mine to mess with) Black or white or gray they are not mine.
I'll work on my delivery Goose simply because I value your post.
(By the way Motto is not moto so don't go there)

2 wrongs don't make a right. Your daddy told ya that when you when 4, and its still true.
I accidently killed a pintail the other day during the closed season. 5 people in the pit, and none of thought for a minute it was a pintail (no sprig and mixxed with widgeons whistling, and coming out of the sun). A guest asked me what i was going to do with it. I answered fillet and marniate it. He was shocked I was going to bring it out. My answer, 2 wrongs dont make a right. I can live with myself for a misteak. I can't live with myself for wasting that animal, stomping him in the mud. Either would get me a ticket, but one had no chance of getting caught, the other did. Was I proud of it? No. But I wasn't ashamed. It was a misteak, and I didnt compound it by doing something else wrong. So dd, its still true, at least to me 2 wrongs don't make a right.
How did I know dan was 100% right in saying dude shouldn't have taken those decoys. Cause of that simple truth. It was true when I was 4, and its still true now. I didnt see it that way, till I read dans responce. This was actually a good thread. Yeah, I think most people here wouldnt snag some deeks they simply found... but some left when a gw made folks vacate, folks they felt had wronged them, Id bet most wouldnt have thought about it. Dan was right in calling him, and us on it. Thats where we all learned something from this. The name calling, well, thats no big deal and Im sure we're all past that.
I do remember dan posting once he'd sneak up on a hole stealer UNDERWATER breathing thru a straw and pull a rambo move once. So, we all have our moments of being less than happy go lucky. hehe. travis

Ole Travis spoke up time to leave ::::grin::::: I thought that was a good post.... The name calling was supposed to lightnen things a little also I might add they coulda been much worse but that wouldn't have been in jest.......... so if ya took offense sorry I thought it might crack a smile......... OH wait not one spelling correction from anybody heh thats good!!!!
I didn't read into his 1st post he stole the decoys what I read into to was finally sombody got thier come up'ins...if you will...... for doing somthing that pisses most of the people who hunt public way off!!!! I guess I hate sombody that will set up on top of sombody most of all.....
Ole Goose usally is able to apply some brand of logic.......thats not agree'ing or dis-agreeing just a twist different than most views on the same subject........... he is good at that!!!
Unless the warden took them to jail he gave them the option of returning for the stuff if he did take them to jail he would have had to picked them up himself or given them a reciept for what ever he took....most likely I would say they didn't give a rats booty about picking them up and said screw it along with the sunk beer cans and bottles if indeed they were drinking. Stealing sombody's decoys ya that pisses me off too I just didn't see it that way. Im sure in ethier seniario the slobs will get their stuff back in the end and maybe learned somthing about sharing public land not running around like you own it.
But I promise I will do my best..shave..shower...clean up a bit stand striaght and try not to make reference's to clergy from now own and in the future TOO!!!

Sorry guys...I know it's been beaten to death.. but I just can't help but think that everyone who posted on this subject would have in someway been pissed off if it happened to them and would have enjoyed revenge of some sort, the easiest and best at the time. You can sit and say what you want, but I just really believe that each and every one would have got some sort of revenge somehow....taking the dekes or not. JMO.

Who is on Goose's computer?
Really, that is a damn good post Bruce. Anger and disgust have made many of us not think a situation through.
Just goes to show "cooler heads will prevail" (in the field and on this board)

Why don't we get together an buy about 5000 acres? I would be willing to contribute hard earned dollars AND sweat to a place where my son and I could learn ducks the RIGHT WAY! That way, I could leave my dekes and other toys at the "clubhouse", and wouldn't worry about em.
