Ive had a bunch of z71's. First was a 95 and i put 2 transmissions in it, along with a bunch of other chit like air conditioner, power steering, alternator, water pump, etc. It fell apart at 100K pretty much. Next one was a 02 it did fine but ran hot some after 100K and had to put a radiator in. Had an 04 never had a problem, an 07 never had a problem, and now a 08 with 65K and no problems.

You see it go either way. I got buddys with Fords that fell apart, and same with GM. Bout the same i think, i might go with price on my next one.

My last work truck was a leased F150...I put over 75000 on it in 2 years, never had a problem, but, Im tellin' ya...that damn seat liked ta put in traction. Now Im stuck in a Ford Trans Connect Bozo mobile...My own truck is a Chevy Colorado crew cab. I will never buy a Ford with my own$$$$ even if its good deal

I have owned about 10 or so Z71 and I will only buy a Ford from now on.. I have had 4 fords now and no trouble at all with them.. I would pull my ranger with my Z and it got 7 mpg. The older Chevrolet's did not have a problem pulling stuff but these new ones are made for riding down the highway.

GM will never be what it once was again, at least not for a long time.

I thought they were doing good when I saw the commercial saying they had paid the money back. UNTIL I read on ABC News that they had paid the money back with MORE FREE GOVERNMENT MONEY.

I've got a 2004 F150 4x4 with the 4.6L V8. It has 215,000 miles on it. The only thing I've had to do to it other than scheduled fluid changes is replace a faulty thermostat at 180,000 miles. It's a great truck and is built really solidly. Would definitely buy a new F150, especially with the new engine choices. Also, it used to be that the FX4 was the only model with a locking rear diff. You could get a limited slip on any 4x4, but had to get the FX4 to get the locker. But, on the 2011 models, you can order the 4x4 "off road" package on any XLT, Lariat, or King Ranch and get a 3.73 locker, same as on the FX4--and a better looking truck.

Best,
JSK

I had 2 f150's that were 2000 models, and they were good trucks. I have always been a Ford man until I test drove my crew cab z71. Mine is a 2005 GMC and I will never buy another FORD. The Z71 is just a better built truck in IMO. It rides smoother, better milage.
