Friday
5 hunters limit by 7:45
14 Gads
9 Mallards
6 Wigeons
1 Greenwing
Saturday
2 Hunters
9 Mallards (Yes, I am turning myself in. We dropped 3 birds out of the last group, and we only needed 2 birds)
Sunday
Decorated a Christmas Tree, smoked a backstrap, and hoped for rain.
Not many birds, but we shot well. My 9 year old made some great shots with his new 20 guage 1187. He wasn't afraid of it at all, and shot over a box in 2 days. Lots of fun, and FRI afternoon my son and I filmed 9 deer after we filmed a Coyote and a Bobcat square off in a foodplot. I had my neighbors over watching it last night. Craziest thing I ever saw, and I was so glad I had my camera with me.

Absolutely spectacular opening weekend. Yesterday's hunt was the slowest. It took us until 8:12 A.M. to limit out. Except for a handful of widgeons, all ducks were mallards and gadwalls.
I have enjoyed many great openers, but this one was way, way beyond the others!

Complete opposite of the spectrum: worse MS opener in many years, worse ever in club history. Water - check, flooded food - check, ducks - a few high fliers trading around. Heard fewer than a dozen shots within the entire bottom in 3 days of hunting. Shot 5 in 3 mornings, woulda gone home Friday if not for my two sons. Highlight, son shot a beautiful drake bufflehead after dad missed it twice! No where to go but up!

Not going to say about the numbers we killed, I dont kiss and tell.
...but I am a bit disappointed in DU's reports of shoveler numbers...we didnt kill a single one and there dont seem to be many reports of them within this post

The best opener in our Club history. 126 in three days. Mostly gads mixed with a good many greenheads and gw teal. We had water which seemed to be the key this weekend. Layed them down with my new Extrema once I got the cob webs out of my technique. Pops killed two with one shot yesterday. Still showing me up.
No bands but, one heck of a weekend to remember.
