Softcall-
Man, you are hard headed!
I can't continue to debate much further, but lets look at some things:
-Michael Houser was WSP. He was one of the original members of the band. His nickname was Panic. His sound defined the band.
He played with them for 20 years!!! The band meshed with him for obvious reasons.
Now you are saying that someone can just step right in and give them the cohesiveness to be better than ever?
It simply won't happen anytime soon....have you listened to George shows? Different sound, different feel...but the guy simply does not know all the songs yet. Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy! I could care less about 6 guys from Texas who caught a show in Austin. The tapes tell it all...especially to those who know music and those who know Panics music.
-I never said everyone hates his sound, nor do I base any of my own opinions of a internet message forum.
I can totally comprehend their new direction and what they have to do. This hiatus should have been done 2 years ago. Hopefully it will do some good.
Time will tell about the future of WSP, but until George steps up his playing when they return, I don't expect them to be making too big of an impact. Afterall, wasn't the original question in this thread which band will step up?
Throw aside your loyalty to George for a second and you'll see that this band has a long way to go to get back to where they once were.
I'll be waiting with the rest of them.

How the hell can a person
go to work in the mornin'
come home in the evenin'
and have nothin' to say
or
a favorite from sam bush
I wish I was a slave
Doesn't really matter what kind
I'd say a prayer for fallen angels
And try and stay free in mind
Then when no one was lookin
Well I'd drop my harvest plow
And find my own contemporaries
And wipe the sweat from their brow
Same ol river, same ol sea
Same ol water rushin over me
Same ol moon same ol sun
Same ol race that we've always run
if you don't know that one, check it out!

Webbmaster, I don't really agree that MH was the heart and soul of Panic. Yes, he was a great guitarist and he has and will be missed, but he, alone, was not Panic. Yes, his nickname was panic so they thought it would make a cool band name, but that doesn't make him, alone, Panic. The band still has 5 other original members that are pretty good in their own right. Their sound was based around him because of his unique lead technique, but he is gone and I'm not sure there is another guitarist with his style out there (not that good anyway). George knows the songs, he just utilizes more of a freestyle technique and doesn't play the same lead over and over every time they play a song. He tends to get ahead of himself and get sloppy at times, but hopefully that will mend itself with time and practice. It is a new sound, for sure, but they had no choice but to move on. People will used to George's style and George will get better.
I think everybody thought Panic would fll flat on their face when MH went out (I know I did) and they stopped coming to shows when the band needed them most. Now people realize that they are getting better and people will start coming back. Like I've said over and over in this thread, only time will tell.
Talking music is like talking about religion or politics, it gets to be real heated real fast. I'm not trying to debate this or convert you to be a huge George fan, I don't really care whether you are or not. I just like discussing good music.

hard headed? Maybe so but at least open minded and realistic enough to know that the use of terms like "majority" and phrases like "Any Panic fan that didn't grow up with George" are total exaggerations. Of course they lost some traction when MH passed..anyone knows that. They'll gain steam again. You are missing my point but I'll leave you with the title of official WSP market research analyst
I am going to build duck blinds this weekend.

Denial aint just a river in Egypt
I'm not trying to be a market research analysis...just expressing the obvious to the common ear. Hey, but if you think it sounds good, have at it!
They have been off for 6 months now, so the jury is still way out if they "are getting better and people will start coming back."
The music has been sloppy...it's not solely Georges fault, but he does need to practice. Practice, George, practice!!!

Well guys at sat around last night drinking with George till 2 am. I asked him how it was playin with the Panic. He said it was great. The toughest thing he had to was learn so many songs so quickly and he is growing. They are going to the studio in Jan and should be back soon. He said they working on some things that are going to be great . Looks forward to getting back on the road. As for practice that 's all that boy does is play.Like we all have said only time will tell.
