Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas were #2, #3, and #4 in duck harvest last year.

Federal law prevents ducks from being hunted past Jan 31. Trent Lott (I belive) helped pass that. Can't remember the exact bill. Chad will know the exact name for it.

We've been killing the helloutta ducks about 4-5 hours north of where I'm presently sitting. Left there Saturday it was 44 degrees. It was 79 in my driveway. Of course, there's one helluva lot more water across that local landscape right now, plus a bazillion or so private refuges. And food galore. In Mississippi, folks with water are hammering the calendar migrators since the opener. South of here, in Louisiana, same deal - the marsh is as full of ducks as it's been. If Mississippi stays dry and that big Norther brings it on, Louisiana is going to kill Mississippi's ducks like no one's business. It's complete and utter lunacy to believe or espouse that DU or any other similar group is short stopping waterfowl.

Farmers told him DU was paying them to spread the corn out of the combines and they were making tons of money off duck hunters.

I'm packing up the truck and headin' north with 17 ticket books if that's the case. Come on y'all, get real.

same old DU song and dance. They can build duck holes all over the freakin world, but untill they either lengthen the season, or do something about grains all over the ground, WHOEVER the hell it is that's doing it, then these posts are going to continue to be made. If you and Chad Manlove are so big into DU, which I know Chad is, then why don't ya'll help us out. People are saying leaving the corn on the ground and even tilling it is illegal, well, leaving it standing is just as illegal as harvesting and spreading it. Why doesn't DU so something about all that??? Seems like they could lobby for tighter rules and regulations about that up there. But no, the hunters would be pissed and stop giving them money. They like it because it feeds the ducks. Never said because it keeps them out of the south. They just aren't standing up for the duck hunter anymore as a voice.

I've always been PRO DU, Just seems that lately, they won't stand up for THE HUNTERS anymore. We've been begging them for later seasons for YEARS now, but have gotten NOWHERE. They are supposed to be our voice, but looks like we have Larengitis!!!

The reason the don't till up the ground is so that they have farmable soil in years to come, not to keep ducks. No tillage farming prevents soil erosion so in the spring when the snow thaws, it doesn't take with it all the nutrient rich top soil. The fact that you think they don't till it is to keep ducks is more than amusing.
The people leaving grain behind in the field are the farmers. There is always waste grains left over. Maybe you should ask if DU is in cahoots with John Deere. I'm pretty sure that John Deere equipment should be picking up all the grain harvested, but DU is paying them to make a product that fails to do that.

You also brought up another interesting point that not many people know. DU does infact control congress. I'm sure that they will switch that little act of congress.

My question for you is whether you think before you speak. But by all means continue. You make yourself more and more credible with each post.

nanny nanny boo boo, I just got back from MO, in some states they have salt trucks to help out with the ice..... in MOMO DU has subsidized 'corn trucks'. They spread it on roads i/o salt, I rode shotgun and I killed 9 double banded greenheads from British Columbia from the top of the corn pile.

All it cost me was a case of bud and a pack of zig-zags fo the driver :shock:

for real tho dude, they leave standing corn in MO like you boys in MS leave standing rice, you want to bitch ... call mother nature, there's your culprit. This is yr 29 of my duck odyssey and I can assure you it used to get colder than it does now, unless I was retarded at ages 13-19 writing in my hunting journals.
