I didn't know!! Congratulations brother and really happy for you. That's awesome news.
I've been to Hawaii and it's a cool place but I would pick Belize hands down.
If anyone has any questions let me know. We'll be back soon and this time of year through Labor Day is their slow time. Winter is their busy time. We could see where we were staying when we caught the dorado. The boat we were on caught a big marlin a few days before. I'll see if I can find some pics.

2nd on Belize, went to Thatch Caye Resort last June on our 10 year. Had a 20 minute puddle jumper then 30 minute boat ride to island. Only 8 couples on the whole island, mainly from southeast. Rooms over water, fished flats every morning for bonefish and permit out from the room and could kayak other side to deep reef for snapper. Guide boat for tarpon with Orvis endorsed fly shop. Broke 2 $$$ rods on fish and they laughed it off as they'd replace them within the week. Was probably a little more remote than we expected but will go back. 100% English. We probably over paid booking online, several of the couples called and got them down on the price.

Maverick. That looks legit. Is it honeymoon friendly? Does it have an actual beach that a woman would like?

Champ let me get this straight. Did you say you flew to Belize and did not have reservation for a place to stay?

Yup. We did our research before we went and knew there would be plenty of options but wanted an adventure without planning stuff out and do what we wanted when we got there. Best decision we could have made. During that time of year there's plenty of good empty places and you can deal with them. Literally drove around in the golf cart for a few minutes when we got until we found a spot we like and booked one of the villas. It is the most laid back place I've ever been, by far. They say it's all on "Belize time" and that's the truth. It's great.

Beach with chairs and hammocks, sand was ok but not the best. I think we were 1 of the 2 couples on anniversary trips but mostly honeymooners. They do have wifi in the main lodged but outside of that 15 sq ft area you are cut off from outside world. Wife read, paddle boarded, beached, fished one day, caught conch and lobster with me. Day excursions for jungle stuff and cave tubbing that people said were fun. You could catch barracuda like white trout from the room, they gave me hell about bringing a shimano with my fly gear. Used their stuff 90% of the time because they were ok with it breaking.
They'd pack you bait and beer for snapper trips

Wife and I have talked about it and it will probably be next May when we go. How busy do you think it will be during that time of the year?

+1 - Ambergris caye - this is where we stayed as well, island right off the mainland. Definitely where you want to be.

That'll be a great time to go. Summer is their slow time. Fall and winter is when they said they start to get busy, but their "busy" is a slow kind of busy compared to Cancun or destin.

Smaller secluded Sandals resort with a private beach unlike some of the larger ones down the road where there are 2 or 3 rows of chairs in front of the water.
I haven't really thought of budget, but just trying to find something that was a package deal that had everything included. Plane tickets and all if it was out there. I like to find a one stop shop.
It would be a trip for just the two of us, leaving kids behind, so what is there for two 40 year olds to get into?
A sandals like he's referring to is a package deal if you choose for it to be that way. Plane tickets, travel from and to the airport, meals, drinks, all is included.
