Jefferson and Jones will hold their own on the DL. The other two will have to step up. The linebackers will be the staple of the defense. The DBs will just have to hold their own and not give up big plays. Everyone thinks that last year's run was a fluke and State will go back to being State. I made this statement last year and got laughed at. "If State runs through LSU, A&M and Auburn, get ready because it's on!" We went into Bama flat and the rest was history. If State steamrolls LSU in week 2 ........ get ready !
I expect State to beat LSU in week 2...but I don't expect that to be a pre-cursor to anything but a good matchup at a good time for State.

By the way, it's funny that you said "If State runs through LSU, A&M and Auburn, get ready because it's on!"...doesn't that kinda go without saying, i mean jeez man, how much do they have to do to prove for it to be on! Hell I'd say Ray Charles could see what was happening for ANY team that started like that...

And State still didn't get the respect they deserved because those teams weren't "as good" in the end. I can't help they got dealt with and toss it in on the rest of the season.

Rod Taylor the promising Ole Miss Sophomore RT / G that was going to push for starting time has a torn Labrum. He's going to try and play through it and have surgery after the season.

He did it, in a boxing match in the locker room....

I think the knock on Treadwell comes from the fact that a majority of his catches have come from bubble screens with people in front blocking for him. So far he has not shown the ability to take over a game at any point and make plays any where on the field. Now I don't think he is not able but that has just been the game plan. Wilson is was a very raw prospect who was a basketball player not a football and has developed very quickly. As far as the comment for better WR groups Texas A&M is a no brainer to me. You could also argue, Clemson, Oregon, and Baylor. Treadwell is probably the only one that would be a starter at Alabama based, that includes Engram who would be behind Howard at TE. Not saying Ole Miss does not have some talent there but I don't think they are all as dynamic as you think.

Engram isn't a pro-style TE. Of course Howard would start at Alabama, he probably has 50-60 lbs on Engram. I would say Treadwell is a 50 / 50 deep, mid game and bubble screen. The fact that he gets so many yards off a bubble screen is because of how physically strong he is as a receiver though.

Granted, you're entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to mine.

Now for MSU don't sleep on this team. This will be the most talented team Mullen has fielded yet with the best QB in the conference. Mullen and staff have proven that they do a better job than anyone of developing players to their full potential. Of course it all starts with Dak and him staying healthy which is always a concern with a QB that is a physical runner. Wilson has already been discussed and will probably take his game to the next level this year. Fred Ross and Joe Marrow are good quality SEC WRs and Myles could be a game breaker if he gets his ball control issues fixed. They lost some starters but they will be replacing Day and Beckwith with more talented players. Shumpert will surprise some people and RB and will make for an easy transition from Robinson. The DL will throw out starters as good as any others, the big boost here could come from Nick James who is as talented a DL as anybody but in the past has been over weight and did not have his head in the right place. It seems as if he has finally bought in as he is in great shape and lost a good bit of weight. LB should be solid and Will Redmond could be one of the best corners in the SEC.

Yep and all of this is nothing but opinion and won't make a bit of difference to what happens on the field but sure is fun to talk about.

It cost him, not us.
He was assigned to shoveling horse $hat at the equestrian building for a week before CGM let him come back.

The only places I've read/heard the knocks on Treadwell are here from State/Bama fans...so I'll take it for what it's worth.

Demorea Stringfellow is 6'3" 220 transfer from Washington, he's gonna be really good nobody knows him yet. He sat our transfer rule last year...I believe he'll be way more of a #2 than we've had past two years and it will make Treadwell look a lot better to the fans not paying attention and thinking all he does is catch bubble screens...

Hey joe, go look at some of the catches against Bama and Auburn by Treadwell...they weren't bubble screen, but they were man handled....By the way, did you get your pants?

Don't misundersta what I am saying, I think he is a beast just has been held back from his full potential. I think a lot of that was due to lack of arm strength for Wallace. Don't think that will be an issue with Kelly.

Treadwell is a great player period. Even as a state fan, hated to see him go down. He always seems to handle himself with class, making his statements on the field and not w his mouth or actions.
