I personally wouldn't be bothered at the Beechwood. Any bar can get rough but I think Beechwood's reputation is probably worse than the reality. That's me. There just aren't a lot of places to have a drink in Vicksburg. I don't know about the new place downtown.

I wouldn't spend my time or money at the Coke Museum.

The Casinos are much smaller than the ones in Biloxi. I haven't been in all of them recently but Ameristar used to be the nicest. Somebody that goes more often can tell you more but they are smaller with less amenities than Biloxi. They're darker than Biloxi but not as dark as Greenville.

I have probably been to our casino's maybe ten times the entire 13 years I have lived in Vicksburg. I have been to the Ameristar and played their $40 poker table and eaten at Waterfront Grill, now Bourbon's. Rainbow Casino, now Lady Luck, is where we have our Ducks Unlimited banquet. The Ameristar is still the nicest in town.

As Dan stated, Beechwood can get rough and if you were to go in there with your wife, she is probably going to get asked out even if you are sitting right next to her.

If you want to just sit and have a drink, I would choose either the bar at Roca or the bar at Lillian's. Both are smoke free, if you smoke you will have to step outside on the patio, but they are small and quiet. Both have flat screen televisions with a sporting event playing, but the television will probably be muted. These are places to drink but not a bar envirornment, if that makes sense.

You have the gist of it by now. Ameristar is probably the preferred casino. Walnut Hills is overpriced for the food. Rusty, Rocca, Anchuca, Cedar Grove, Lillians are all good options for dinner. For lunch Billys (outlet mall) is good (Chicken Parmesan Sub is my favorite there, its not on the menu but he its a local favorite). The Vicksburg Military Park is a must and if you have time the Corps Museum is good also.

If you go through the military park be sure to stop at the visitors center first. There is a cd they sell that will talk you through the park from stop to stop. It will make the visit to the park much more interesting
