Went yesterday and killed the only duck that gave us a chance. At least it was a green head. Didn't see much flying all day. Had a buddy tell me they posted a goose egg this am.

Got 17 this morning...12 fatheads and 5 grays...was in arkieland though!!

Never know if ya don't go. Wasn't expecting chit and 3 of us shot 13 by 8:30. Had, lord, maybe 10-15 groups work, but they just wouldn't finish. Should have brought a jerk string.

Is it just me, or does it seem like Mississippi has become less consistent over the past few years. I don't know if it is shortstopping or weather or what... Its just seems like we used to be able to count on good December hunting. Now its down to the last two weeks in January.

None in N. Leflore county, don't know where the damn birds are. I would imagine that all the water and river flooding in Arkansas has them scattered up there somewhere. It has progressively gotten worse since opening weekend. I have talked with a bunch of people in our area and everone saying the same thing. At least the deer are rutting.

We had 2 good hunts this weekend in N Leflore. 3 man limit by 7:00 Sat not as much luck Sunday, but a good hunt still. Looks like lots of water though. Good luck the rest of the season.

The weather is too nice, still. You got a small percentage of the leading edge of the migration that are less tolerant to cold weather and more educated - they have PhD's in danger avoidance. Right now the 2 biggest factors is lack of weather and PRESSURE on what was here a week or 2 ago - IMHO.

Another consideration is if there isn't some amount of pressure birds would congregate in suitable habitats that are managed or otherwise, inaccessible. Folks naturally adopt the 'kill'em while you got'em ' approach. To kill ducks consistently, you have to hunt concentrations and/or become mobile. Again - IMO

couldn't agree more. water has spread out what ducks aren't tolerant and they have become very wise. IMO the freeze line is still to far north for consistently killing big ducks as a whole. some guys/areas will do better than others but i just think they aren't here yet.

Our group hasn't killed even 1 shoveler this year which is very unusual...we have had some good mixed bags though...it's just that shovelers help our numbers early in the season and we don't have any...

I'd be tickled to have a Hollywood show right now!!!
