I have the nikon 10x50 ATB and for the money they are the best you can buy. I have since purchased the Swarovski 15x56 SLC and the Steiner Night Hunter XP 8x56. Both are top of the line and do have an advantage on the Nikon but you will be happy with the 179.00 vs 2399.00

Take a look at Vortex. I bought a pair this year and really like them. Plus they have an unconditional lifetime guarantee. I searched reviews online before buying and could not find one bad one about these binoculars. .02

Look at the Vortex Diamondback. I purchased a pair of the 10X42 this year and have been very impressed. I had a pair of steiner's that i loved before a "neighbor" decided to take look around in my truck one night. Couldn't afford the high dollar glasees this year so i did my research and landed on the Vortex. On top of it all, they have 100% no frills waranty. If you run over them in your truck, drop them in the water, etc., they will replace/fix with no questions asked. No warranty card to fill out, no reciept needed. I was pretty impressed with all of that.

Nikon has 3 catgories for their binoculars.
Monarch ATB
Monarch X
EDG
I have had the ATB's and recently upgraded to the Monarch X. EDG is high dollar, I cant type that many 0's but the X is great glass for a good price.
And there you have my $.02

You should get the most expensive pair you can AFFORD. You get what you pay for. Always remember Good stuff aint cheap and cheap stuff aint good.
