I've Lived down here in louisiana for 6 years now I moved from the Grenada area. I have to agree about most of the coments made about hunting down here. But I love it down here I wouldn't move back home unless they threw alot of money at me.

I joined 4 differant leases down here the first 4 years I was here and I will never do that again. I deer hunt now by myself on 1400 acres in Amite co. and I have killed 2 deer over 145 on the place.

I carried a friend of mine(from Covington La) to my place the other day for a afternoon bow hunt I drove him to his stand in the middle of a pasture and he thought it was a joke to bow hunt in the middle of a pasture. He killed a doe and saw 9 more and 3 bucks within bow range.
Which he was instructed not to shoot any bucks. (I went through that last year only to find a 14 in 8 point)

When I picked him up that evening he was amazed about what he had seen "how did you find a place where da deer just walk around in da field" I told him that if you are patient enough and watch the deer in stead of kill on site that there is a whole nother world out there.

he said "its just like I seen on TV Brah"

My point is when i comes to a deer these people are nutz but other than that really good people.

Over the last 4 years we have seen an influx of LA residents into our camp. Most of them from the Slidell/NO area they have said there just are not any good leases around there for them to hunt. Nice guys and they follow the rules on the camp, but they sure do talk funny. :D

While Louisiana does have a lot of people that like to hunt and like to kill stuff, and our culture in the past certainly has been to outlaw sterotypes are killers. However believe what you want too, If you belive MS is that much better and the people are too (there are great people in MS), please stay there, don't come back for our duck hunting, or fishing just stay in MS.

I would say that more people from LA hunt in MS than the other way around. I've been in 6 Big Deer camps in my life and all of them were 60% LA out of state members. So this goes both ways..There are good people in LA too , but if they don't like us picking with them on a MS Board they can stay in LA as well!!!

Ok i was gonna take a back seat on this thread but chit on it!!!!!!!!!

Heres the deal, both states Ms and La have their ethical and unethical hunters. Same for every other state as well. Does Louisiana have a very large population of non-ethical hunters, maybe so im not gonna try and denounce that. Do more La folks go to hunt in Ms than vice versa, probably so. But heres the trade off, Ms folks come here to salt water fish. I think thats a pretty fair trade off and don't mind the unspoken arraingement that our two states seem to have.

As far as all these other childish dig's you fellas are throwing around, well im gonna stay out of that. Ok carry on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obviously no one sees the tounge in cheek in my post. I couldn't follow this as I couldn't get on the board again until now.

I have no problem saying that some people in our state are meat hungry. However to stereotype the whole state on five guys in Academy???????????? Come on that's a load of crap. Again if that is a fact ya'll all must sleep with your sisters.

Go to Scott, Smith, and Jones county ms and listen to some conversations there, just as bad if not worse!

But LA is rough on the deer population and dont get defensive bout it cause even the coonasses I know b!tch and moan about how everyone in the state is an outlaw!

And the fishing vs hunting isnt really valid. You manage a deer heard way more than fish, yall have the marsh florida has the deep water ms has the deer and alabama has the oosers! And if they did away with out of state fishing and hunting there would be way more feelings hurt on the west side of the state.

Fishing is just something you do while hunting season is close even tho the best redfishing is in the winter.

Not talking chit because I hate that the state of MS will never reach its potential dual to some of our residents hunting habbbits.

I'm from Alabama and I'll agree with that. I honestly don't know why alot of these Alabama guys think there aren't any deer or turkeys or ducks for that matter in this state. Can't really justify driving all the way over there personally. Maybe I'm just a simpleton but I think I do pretty good within an hour of my home. :D

The stereoptype was bs, if you come to south ms you will probably find much of the same. As far as comparing states Louisiana has the best saltwater fishing period, florida, bama nobody competes, Mississippi tends to grow bigger and better herds of deer in the south Alabama is close.
