i cant see them putting him in slidell to drive to mid city everyday. that just doesnt make sense. i would think they will probably put you in a lower priced place in the city or in metairie close to the city line. this city really isn't as bad as everybody makes it out to be. keep to your self and use common sense and you will be just fine. bourbon street is a tourist trap. go to some of the bars(if thats your thing) on decatur or other ajoining streets of the quarter. get you a hamburger at port-of-call, but get there between 11 and 11:30 or you'll be in line. its on Esplanade just ask for directions. grab you either a roastbeef poboy or a muffalleta at Serios Deli which is one block to the west of St. Charles and Canal. Johnny's poboys is also good. If your in mid city, real close to delgado is a place called Bud's Broiler. lunch spot but good flame broiled hamburgers and hotdogs. The bulldog in midcity is also a cool place to grab a drink. that should get you started.

Class is at delgado community college. i work at a ford dealership and i gota go take a transmission class.

If it's the place I'm thinking of you will be north of the causeway so u will probably stay somewhere in Slidell

yeah,

I assume you'll be at the midcity campus as well. Although there is a satellite campus in Slidell by the car dealerships, huh not sure. The bulldog is really close and it is really really good for both beer selection and bar food and has a pretty decent atmosphere. Pass through the park and you can hit liuzza's by the track which is pretty damn good as well. For my money, I wouldn't spend much time in the quarter, there are much more "New Orleansy" places where you get a better bang for your buck.

If you like Mexican, Juan's flying burrito is pretty close to the mid city campus and is pretty darn awesome. mahoney's is a hike from where I think you'll be, but best poboby shop I've found.

WWII museum is pretty cool if you are into history or arms.

I was thinking he would be out by the tech college (New Orleans East) where the fire school was, but I failed to think about Katrina shutting all of that down.

Stay away from Downman rd. Unless you want to wake up the next morning wondering why your wallet is empty and you have the crabs

Take a cab in and around the quarter, it's well worth the money. You won't lose your car, (not that I ever have) and you won't get lost or get a DUI. Check out Felix's or the Acme Oyster House. Drop in the Dungeon off Bourbon St., (quite an experience).

Bud's Broiler right off campus for lunch! Little Italian restaurant at the corner of Canal and Carrollton Ave is great too for dinner...don't remember the name of it but it's an old mafia joint that's great!
