Re: We have lost a friend tonight
I'm am terribly, terribly saddened to hear this. Our prayers and sympathy are with Heather and Patrick. I met David, like so many other friends, through MSDucks and came to know him - and his family to whom he was entirely devoted - through crawfish boils and goose hunts, and an especially memorable Uruguay duck hunt where I quickly learned that boy could swing a shotgun with the best of them (while AC DC thundered in the background through his red Oakleys).
RIP, David. The ducks and geese may rest easy tonight, but the rest of us are certainly at great loss.

Guys, I talked with Micah earlier. We as msducks will be doing something for the family, whether it be a flower arrangement, memorial, etc.

Re: We have lost a friend tonight
Prayers sent to all.
I meet him this yr on the duck hunt over in AR. He drove us around all day and had us rolling the whole time. Then we picked up his little boy and his wife and packed in. The day got even better then with all 3 of them together. They were some characters Ill tell you.
Heather and Patrick hold your heads high in this hard time. Im sure if their is anything needed or help with your family has plenty of freinds on this site.

Re: We have lost a friend tonight
I was in a late meeting when I got the call from Tuel, and didn't pick up until Greenhead22 called, for the second time..I am still in shock and grief. I have known David personally for almost 5 years, since the Delta Waterfowl shoot at Providence plantation. I didn't get to hunt with him often enough, but I will never forget a rather special Arkansas timber hunt I shared with him a couple of years ago during a hard freeze. It wasn't memorable for the amount of birds, but what made it special was that they were literally coming down in our laps, Adam was working the call like he does, and when the birds fell in Ramsey's face lit up like a Kid staring at a Red Bicycle on Christmas Morning, and there was David and Patrick. I could tell at that instant that David was there for Patrick more than anything.
The more I got to know David the more I realized he prized family above all and if he trusted you enough to be your friend then you were obviously of pretty solid character. David was privileged enough to hunt some special places, the least of which his great hunt in Uruguay, and there is a rather special photo of one of those other special hunts somewhere. If my memory serves it is of him and Patrick both. Apparently David was asked to leave his camera at the truck for that hunt, and as a result he only has one picture that someone else so generously gave him. That picture and that hunt was one of David's favorite memories, and one he confided in me a couple of years ago. He probably confided that story in others over the years, so I do not think I'm privileged by the mere fact he shared it with me. But David's face during the retelling of the story expressed how deeply he loved his son, and for getting to see that pure love I was privileged.
There are many hearts grieving tonight, for we have lost a dear friend, and some a family member. While the Kingdom of Heaven is certainly better off, those of us left behind on earth have suffered a tragic loss. Heather and Patrick you are in my prayers. Rest in Peace David.
While this is not the picture I was referring to, I am quite certain it is one of his favorite memories:

and another from the same hunt:

That is stunning. I cant really put thoughts and words together right now. I sure hate I missed the last goose hunt with him this year. At least he is in good company with ChocolateSeal, Webfoot, Sportsman 450.
No, i don't want to know you ---- teul
