How many of you actually played football in HS or College? Please dont tell me you dont think stuff like this doesnt happen on nearly every play....only diff.....Spikes got caught. Its FOOTBALL..............should he be reprimanded? Not my call to make, however, I would advise him to only do that sort of thing when there is plenty of people laying around you and cameras cant see.....

exactly my same thought, we got eye gouged, spat on, and about got our junk ripped off a few times....its football

i thought it was just good pile etiquette to have a hand or arm cleated when getting up off of the pile, at least that is the way i got it...doesn't mean i returned the favor in the pile, though-saved those for live plays (kickoffs and punts were great for payback).....find a hand that jutted out of a different color jersey than yours and give it a good heavy step and twist on the way back up, or having a nice throat oyster spit in your face, or an deceptive shot to the nads (wore a cup for a few games from a swift cod shot in the jamboree), or an uppercut to the chin with a forearm shiver from linebacker, etc...

Guess I need to go back through those games I've got saved on DVR and review everything the officials missed during the game. I'm sure we can get a few more players suspended for things they did during the game that never got called. Ooh ohh better yet, we can get rid of the officials all together and wait till the games are finished to review the film. Then we can get all the calls correct and put them in some fancy computer program that will simulate the results after all penalties have been properly assessed to create a more accurate outcome.

He's "suspended" for the 1st half of the Vandy game. Why not for the whole game since they won't need him........it's VANDY !

I played HS and College football I never tried to poke anyone in the eye. I never got poked in the eye, I always thought if I got pissed I would just hunt them down and knock the piss out of them. I think this blaintant display of nigerism should be dealt with, oh wait he don't know any better!

i always tried to display sportsmanship, knock the piss out of 'em and then help 'em back up - kill'em with kindness - never did any eye poking, hand cleating, or spitting in faces, but it always seemed to happen to me in the pile - since i was the center/linebacker i was always at the bottom...

Man, yall need to learn to take some joking.......how far away is duck season? Spikes is a punk, yes, but that happens all of the time in football, not everybody teaches 'class' while coaching. I talked to a man who has ref'd HS football for almost 30 yrs just a week or so ago and he basically said that 'real' coaches, those who dont just coach to 'win', but instill values and honor in young men are very rare today. That is why you see actions like this on the field.

So "football" is just another name for assault. I played ball in high school and if my coach caught me doing chit like that I would have never played again. Saying, "that's just football" does not make it acceptable nor does it justify it. Just because it takes place on the football field doesn't mean it's not a crime and that it shouldn't be treated as such.
