SB,
Here's one more question. Since I'm an "ooser", if the license I get in the mail for my trip out there doesn't have it, will the HIP on my SC license work? Thanks!

The State liscnese printing people must not like me because in three years MB hasnt been on any of my plastic cards.

Last year I just went to Wal-mart and filled out another survey. I hope that didnt mess with any figures but they gave me as sticker with the number of the survey on it. I just stuck it on the front left of my liscense. I got checked once and the GW did not have a problem with it.

I hope they all dont have a prblem with the sticker cause that is what I plan on doing this year to.

If the sticker isnt enough would someone please tell me before I find out the hard way.

Hey guys,

I bought all of my license last week and I asked about the H.I.P. I was told that it wasn't starting until next year. I work for the state (pitty please) and I bought my license and state stamp. What gives? Judge? I sure don't want to get in trouble. I know last year I was given a stamp for the back of my license and that was all. I had heard that you would have to fill out some sort of paper work for it this year, but like I said, not according to the licensing agent here at work.

That may be true Scott. But if that's the only reason, how come when you renew through the mail you get only a card and no long form? Hhhmmmm? I guess only authorized people can issue a LF. That sorta rules out the collection only theory though.

HIP is just a series of questions they ask you when you buy your license. it helps the feds determine hunter harvest. it only takes about 10 seconds to do, so i imagine a GW would do it on the spot.

One must be HIP certified in the state that they are hunting migratory game birds. Being HIP certified in one state will not suffice for another state's certification.

The sticker from the HIP survey is that one needs. If you have the MB on your card or HIP certified on your long form you do not need the sticker.

Lifetime license holders can go by any license agent to get their HIP certification or call 601-432-2300. It is recommended that all lifetime license holders call the license division ( 601-432-2400) to give them your current mailing address. Addresses tend to change over ones lifetime, and they don't think of notifying the MDWFP of the address change. Then they wonder how come they never hear about these changes. The MDWFP also needs current lifetime license holder current address to get them their Tel-Check form to them.

bluwtr: See my first post regarding this issue. It should answer your questions. One must be certified according to federal law, and the program has been in place for 5+ years.

If one purchases the sportsman license through the mail via the renewal form, they should receive the long form which includes the Tel-Check info.
If one did renew their sportsman license through the mail and did not receive the longform, they did not receive everything that they paid for. They need to be asking where their long form is. Unless they plan on deer and turkey hunting and participating in the Tel-Check program this year, they do not need the long form. The card will be sufficiant.
