That's high! Hunted on the river for about 30 years and only seen it that high 2x. Turkeys sitting in the trees will have nothing to eat since there are no buds or green leaves. Not a lot of insects this time of year. Deer will probably stave as well. Going to be rough.

I wonder if this will pertain to hog hunting too? I know it states any wild animal but with them being such a nuisance I would think MDWFP would allow it.

I had the same thought, went back to see if it said game animal or not. I think this should be changed to nuisance animals (or at least hogs, since they're non-native nuisances) and waterfowl.
On separate note, that's a big jump in the forecast. Dec 23rd had the Vicksburg crest 39-ish. Over a 10 foot jump in the forecast 2 days later? Wow. (Unless I have completely misread something).

I hope they don't let people hog hunt cause I know plenty of folks who would love to have that excuse to kill some deer. They have houses and deer camps in the hills and they can easily have the deer cleaned and put away before anyone sees them with it. Like it is, if there are shots fired they better have a dang good excuse for for it. Them deer don't need folks running them around while there out hog hunting anyway. They will be stressed out as it is.

That's the problem i see with most of the way rules are made now, everyone is automatically assumed to be guilty (or would be guilty) so they (State) makes rules to prevent honest folks from doing whatever. Same reason you can't shoot hogs at night on private land during deer season...it is automatically assumed you woudl shoot deer instead of hogs.
While yes some people woudl no doubt do it, there are alot of folsk that woudln't do it. And if the Hogs are such a problem that need to be controlled, seems to me this woudl be a perfect opportunity to kill some.
Say I'm duck hunting in the area that is closed to deer hunting etc.. I see a group of hogs swimming or standing on high ground. If I shoot them i broke the law and could get a ticket???? Yet "they" say we need to do as much as we can to help control the population. That to me is a contradiction.

I imagine the high river will put a dent in the pig population.
