And those in the adminstration in those districts make more than say Madison or Rankin county where we have one superintendent for the whole county. More populated and better scoring...but yet those underperforming districts need that MAEP money.

Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding. We haaave a winner. And if you think the administration at the school district level is a mess, try looking at the state level. I'm afraid that whole agency is mixed up worse than Father's Day in the Caribbean (or any other place that celebrates Carnival).

If you can't see that legalizing weed would help this state then you're blind. People smoke it anyways, and there is nothing wrong with it. Its safer than alcohol. The worst you do when high is destroy a bag of cheetos. Can you say the same thing about someone thats hammered of Jack Daniels?

Violent Crime is down in Denver after legalization, theft is down, property crime is down, the have the fastest growing economy in the nation. Legalization would allow farmers to grow hemp, which would thrive in our farm rich culture.

I know I'm in the minority by being in this point of view, but MS is TO conservative. I wouldn't say I'm a liberal, but I'm not a conservative either. Both sides have points, but the fact that MS is still stuck on racism (yes, its still thriving. Yes I understand there are white folks / white trash etc.). My best friend is black. I love him to death, and would do anything for him over most white people I know.

Mississippi is stuck in the past, we're full of old white men stuck in their ways. There is a reason we are one of the dumbest, fattest, least attractive states in the union. We're doing nothing to better our image.

If someone can honestly tell me why cannabis legalization would be a bad thing for MS, please enlighten me. Safer than alcohol. Would bring a huge boost to the economy. Provide jobs. Provide income for our education system. More crops for farmers. Takes $114 million from the State budget for weed related offense.

I don't remember her name, but a woman holding a hearing about the upcoming petition to put the Legalization of Marijuana on the ballot in November. Research showed that the state spends $114 million on incarceration / housing / efforts put towards only marijuana related arrests.

Should someone be spending 25 years in prison for having some weed on them, when having a bottle of whiskey in your car is far far worse?

This is the chance for MS to take a leap forward. Look at the states / cities that have legalized it. Seattle... Denver... both thriving cities. Colorado and Washington are both thriving states. Effing Washington D.C. has decriminalized it. Its all a matter of time before the Fed's make it legal, MS has the chance to be the first in the south to jump a step forward. Get ahead of the curve, and do something ground breaking for once and try to turn this state around.

If this was anything else. If Jack Daniels, or Anheuser Busch wanted to bring TEN THOUSAND jobs to MS. 10,000 jobs. Everyone in the state would vote for it hands down. People will get weed if they want weed. So legalize it, and tax it. Its a no brainer.

Did you know farrrrrr far more people die from Tobacco each year than weed related deaths (drug deals etc). But how many of you right now are sitting with a dip in your mouth, or about to go smoke a cigarette outside?

I still pay attention to what is going on, but to be honest until it gets so bad that the average Joe starts to feel the pinch of the economy, the encroachment of the govt, the loss of rights and freedoms so much that THEY turn on their TVs and read the newspapers then nothing is going to change..

You have 20% of American on the liberal left, 20% on the conservative right and 60% of American that has NO CLUE what is going on and vote based on who they think is the "coolest" or "most appealing" or which media outlet can present the candidate they want to win in the best light then we don't have a chance to turn this country around.. We are at the mercy of a majority of uninformed voters that don't understand how the process works or what made this country great.
