The wife and I went to Pap's on Highway 7 north of Grenada a couple of weeks ago, and they were $9 a pound cooked and weren't worth a dang. I nearly Sh*t when they brought the bill. Glad I only got 3 pounds to start.

$3.95/lb from Dixie Crawfish in Oxford. $#!+ bags, though. Bought 2 sacs-- very lethargic, half dead and small. Definitely got the shaft. Anyone know of another place in oxford to get them live?

Re: Official crawfish thread
You're insane if you pay that much for them. Its more of a principle thing for me. Sure they are hard to come by this time of year, and yeah gas is still expensive, but they have the population that crawfish are worth $6-7/lb and that you "have to have them" in the spring......
Its what the market with bear and apparently people value spring crawfish more than a house note...

Re: Official crawfish thread
i would trade anyone all the crawfish, oysters, shrimp, crabs, and fish for a small spot to bring my son duck hunting on if anyone is interested.
Re: Official crawfish thread
True dat, we tend to wait until the price bottoms out until we boil. One good thing about Porter's is he shoots a mass text every week on the goin rates for live and cooked crawfish, oysters, and different size shrimp. Live bugs seem to go down .25 to .50 a week.deltadukman wrote:You're insane if you pay that much for them. Its more of a principle thing for me. Re: Official crawfish thread
Am sure there is just cause for the high price, but know this from a guy that worked in that business for 10+ years, there aint a group in the world as good at holding a price than the LA crawfish farmers. Oil companies got nothing on them. In fact it seemed like it never got real competitve until the fishermen from the basin started turning in good numbers.
Just heard a report of @ $3 live up around Cleveland, but I suspect thats someone trying to unload what they didnt sell this weekend.
Hope they come down soon.
