As a maroon man at heart I will say great job Ole Miss and coach Freeze. I really wish things would change for the better at State. To be honest the best thing that could happen to us was a crappy year toward the end. Maybe now we can get out heads outta the clouds and play ball. If this year is like last I think we need to recruit a new coach.
Also as a Mississippi man, I know State will get rocked against Bama but to Webb master and the rest of the rawl tide sister lovers, I really hope Ole Miss takes Saban to the wood shed. Don't let the great recruits today make you think this is the reason for my beleif. The rebels played Bama closer than anyone with half the Hp. Now they hitting on all 8 suckas. And for the oppertunity to see Bama go down to a MS team...... Heck Ill say a little Hotty Toddy!

You sound completely soft.

Smells like a moral victory. The whole "8-0 - We Believe" thing was just a big scam.
Also as a Mississippi man, I know State will get rocked against Bama but to Webb master and the rest of the rawl tide sister lovers, I really hope Ole Miss takes Saban to the wood shed.
Your inferiority complex and hatred of Alabama now has you cheering for your rival school. I'd like to remind you of a few things. First, Ole Miss and taking someone to the wood shed only happens the other way around. Second, in reference to "sister lovers": YOU LIVE IN MISSISSIPPI.
Don't let the great recruits today make you think this is the reason for my beleif.
I am not. I was thinking more along the lines of crack cocaine, alcohol or you got in the head one too many times with a cowbell.
The rebels played Bama closer than anyone with half the Hp.
You've now ventured into unchartered waters: A MSU fan is proclaiming a moral victory for its "rival" state school. Judging from all the references to that particular game, it sounds like Alabama should let Ole Miss borrow the SEC and BCS trophy for one day a week.
Now they hitting on all 8 suckas.
They are not doing anything. Its February.
And for the oppertunity to see Bama go down to a MS team...... Heck Ill say a little Hotty Toddy!
This opportunity happens twice a year. Every year. But it never really pans out.

Congrats to the Rebels for a great class. Bulldogs had a respectable class as well.
I often see where the state of Mississippi, per capita, has the highest percentage of players in the NFL.......it often flip flops between Mississippi and Louisiana. I often think about what it would be like if the state of Mississippi ony had one SEC school.......that school would be a power like LSU year after year after year. On any given Saturday, there are 130,000 to 170,000 people watching a D1 football game in Mississippi...........build a stadium that seats 120.000......single school (think if you combined the classes State and ole Miss signed)..........would be hard to compete with.

The idea of combining the Mississippi universities into one single school with a campus primarily located in the state capitol of Jackson MS was actually proposed many years ago by MS Gov. Bilbo. I think that it was proposed as both a cost saving measure and a way to unify the state of MS around one flagship university. Of course, due to politics and allegiances of "fans" to their respective schools/sports teams, the idea was shot down and never approved by the legislature.
Such an idea/legislation today would never have a chance at passage. There are too many people at this point mired in their traditions to ever consider something that radical, and yet practical.
Yes, there is no doubt that if Mississipi had one major university (imagine Ole Miss, MSU, and USM combined), that this school would be a perrenial powerhouse in sports and would enjoy a level of fan support likely exceeding all other schools in the country. But, getting past all the issues that such a consolidation would present seems like an insurmountable obstacle at this time.
Personally, I would be willing to give up my Ole Miss Rebels for the reality of such a consolidated school and the good chance that such a move would produce championsip caliber sports teams in our state on a consistent basis. It would save the state of MS a lot of money in duplicate administration of academics, unite our state's citizens behind one team, and as indicated above, likely produce much higher quality sports teams for our enjoyment. But, I doubt I would get many followers. There are too many who can't give up their "hotty toddy" or their cowbell or their etc. etc. etc.

Remember the Ayers case? Jackson State wanted to gobble up UM, MSU and USM. Nightmare.

i read about gov dildo's ideas on creating one central university... was almost 100 years ago that he proposed that.. and it was met with the utmost disdain. even back then... i think gov dildo was once speaking with some ole miss folks on a train about this idea.. gov dildo became concerned for his health as he was scared the ole miss fans were going to throw him from the train for expressing his views on the matter...
aint going to happen at all now... to much invested in both universities...
po monk.. i'm with ya... i would go all in on the deal if it truly created championships being brought back to the magnolia state...

This is the difference. Alabama can support two schools especially when they can recruit out of state when the in state talent is down.

Fill in the blanks....this should be fun!
Name:
University of the State of Mississippi Golden Eagles
Colors:
Maroon, yellow, and white
Traditions:
Rebel flags, Dixie, cowbells
Central Location:
Canton
Satellite Campuses:
Oxford, Starkville, Columbus, Tupelo, Hattisburg, Vicksburg

I'll play:
Name:
Mississippi University
Nickname/Mascot: Mallards
Colors:
Green, Gray and white
Traditions:
Duck calls
On field mascot: a cocky mallard
Central Location:
Canton
Satellite Campuses:
Oxford, Starkville, Columbus, Tupelo, Hattisburg, Vicksburg
The Mississippi Mallards could play home football games in Oxford, Starkville, and Hattiesburg until a giant 120,000 seat new stadium is built in the Canton area ; thereafter an occasional game could be played on the satellite campuses (non conference ).
We'll need a very large green space area near the new stadium for tailgating, grilling, etc.
