I predict a very close game, going down to the wire.

LSU will score 17+ pts. The team that wins will have to score over 20 points.

MSU drove the ball on the Tide twice into the red zone, but just did not capitalize with pts. The Rebels scored 14. Michigan scored 14. I think LSU is better than these 3 teams offensively, and has a much better defense --- one close to Alabama good.

Tide in a squeaker. 23 - 20. Shelley gets a workout.

I think Bama does win the game with a late score to put it out of reach. But I could also see a big win by the Tide. Unfortunately, I do not have much confidence in our offense to get anything going against that defense. I think our defense will keep us close into the third quarter, but will be on the field too much.

But on the positive side, it will be an epic tailgate. So any Ducksouthers coming in for the game, here is an open invite to our tailgate. PM for details. I can promise good gumbo, cold beer and football on TV along with a big purple school bus with a stripper pole!

Good luck and Geaux Tigers!

The 2 games last year were very similar to each other. I expect this one to be about the same. Just don't see a blowout regardless of the LSU downplay.

"The Tide don't lose in Baton Rouge..."

We shall see.

I've listened to and read a lot of commentary this week on this game and for the first time in my life every single commentator I've have run across has picked one team to win in a Top 6 match-up...and it ain't the home team.

I never remember anything like it. It either speaks to how good Bama is, or how overrated LSU is...one of the two.

I don't understand it either. Alabama is going to Baton Rouge to play a very good team with 2 weeks to prepare.

I do not like Bama being propped up to be invincible. Oddly enough, the media propped LSU up last year as being one of the greatest teams ever after the regular season.

This game does not sit well with me. I am thinking a key turnover and fluke/trick play (regardless of whose way it goes) decides the outcome.

Feeling the same way. LSU is going to come out and give Bama all they can handle. LSU has the DL to slow down the run and put pressure on McCarron.

While this Bama team is indeed very good, the media coverage lately has indeed been a bit over the top in portraying Bama as invincible. I read an article the other day, I think in the Jackson CL, that suggested that Bama being ranked number 1, compared to the other teams in the top mix , was not high enough --- that Bama was so far superior to all other teams that they deserved their own separate, higher classification. Usually, when you start seeing that type of buildup of any team, no matter how good the team, it means that the inevitable fall from grace will soon occur, especially if the team that the accolades are being heaped upon starts to believe their own press clippings.

Not saying that is going to happen here. This Bama team may be as mentally and physically mature as any that Saban has ever fielded. So, they may be able to take all of this hyperhype in stride. But, college football players are young, and they are human --- not robots. Saban seems to have done a great job so far with respect to keeping his team focused on the next opponent and keeping their feet on the ground. But, I'm certain that he hates some of this over the top stuff like the example given above. It just makes his job even harder, not only to prepare his team, but to make sure they are not getting overconfident.

In addition to LSU this weekend, Bama will be tested again by TAM, the winner of the SEC East in the SEC title game, and in the national title game (assuming they get there).

PoMonk: I think the media is doing just that, begging for a let down so there will be no SEC team in the national title game.

If LSU's offense can't sustain drives and finish a few off with scores then I see their defense getting tired and making some mistakes late. I could see Bama stretching it out a little at the end.

31-17

The last time Bama was hyped as being able to compete with NFL teams (which I have been hearing all week), was 2010....they lost three games after the NFL-killer label was applied. ESPN ran a month long special on the 2005 USC team being the greatest of all time...then they lost to Vince Young and Texas at season's end.

That being said, you can go back and look at my pre-season predictions. I said this may go down as the best Bama team of all time. I think I am looking pretty good on that prediction. The entire O-Line, the QB, both RBs and the TE will all play in the NFL. Arguably the entire starting defense will play in the NFL. And they have IMO, the greatest collegiate coach in history coaching them. Maybe they could beat a bad NFL team. :D
