I've never taken her duck hunting. She's bad cold natured. I've been trying to wait for a good push so I can take her to a spot where she can sit in a blind with me or at least on the bank of a slough on dry ground. I'd hate to take her out in waist deep water with waders in flooded timber!
Good luck to all you other guys getting hitched!
Crackhead, I know the statistics don't lie, but you don't know me or my fiance' so you can't really make that judgement. I know 50% end up in divorce, but you can't look at the 50% on one end and assume that's the majority. It's like: Is the glass half full or half empty???

She's a sweet gal and I consider myself the luckiest guy alive. I took her out to the refuge when I was still at MSU last fall and we sat out there at sunset while all of the ducks were going to roost, just listening to the ducks and geese. She said, "I can see why you like this so much now." I took her deer hunting with me this last year and she seemed to enjoy it too...maybe a little too much. She slept the whole time.
She's been supportive of everything so far, even me talking about a lease in the delta this fall!
Remind yourself you said this in about 3 years. They all are pretty likeable pre-marriage. Very few remain that way. Maybe yours will . . . yeah right. Like it or not, if she aint been duck huntin and deer hunting before you, there is a reason for it. Opposites attract, likes remain. Just my opinion, but I do get to hear a lot of $2,500.00 stories.

So you’re looking for advice?
Here is my stance on marriage and what has worked for me.
I love my wife and tell her that everyday I’m home. I never expect her to do something that I’m capable of doing myself unless she wants to do it. I remember everyday how much I cared for her that first 6 months and seek ways to make her feel the same twenty plus years later.
Marriage is give and take but to make it work you have to give much more than you take.
My sweet wife has put on the weight, stresses over the kids, and works hard just like I do. I couldn’t care for her anymore than I do. Stay faithful, caring, and talk with her all the time. Don’t let the TV dominate your time when she seeks your attention.
Twenty six years and counting.
It always amazes me how people can get married then two years later hate the ground the other walks on. That is the norm these days. Sad but not surprising with the entitlement groups that seems to dominate this country today.

Where are you boys getting 50% divorce.
I must be reading from others sources than what you are because for the last 4 years people Mag. says 69% fail in the first 10 years. While another 15 percent fail after 20.

I am at 20 years next month....
-- its something you have to work at, every day.
-- don't ever go to bed mad at each other. work it out first, even if it takes all night.
-- learn to say "I'm Sorry" even if it is not your fault, or you don't feel that way. it will get you to a point where you can talk it out.
-- don't ever ever say the word 'divorce'. it should not even be an option, and should never be mentioned in any conversation, even in anger or in jest.
-- you marry her family as much as you marry her. win them over too...
-- its hard as hell to stay married....

I just want to say their all crazy! Please don't everbody take offense to that its not neccesarily a bad thing. It's that men are from mars.... thing you can't explain it but just knowing this and not kidding youself about it should help out alot. The craziness theory extends from my personal experiences with females. You have all seen it one minute she is worshiping the ground you walk on the next she is crying about you not paying you any attention or scratching your face off for a number she dosn't reconize on your cell phone which she absent-mindidly called herself. Whatever just know to take it with a grain of salt. say I'm sorry for everything. Arguements only arise from one persons lack of emotional control; let it be her: you be the sane one all the time and keep good sense about yourself that way you'll stay in the green. You never know what will come out of her mouth in the heat of an argument so again let it slide as much as humanly possible (pay very close attention to that).

Crackhead:
Your advice sounds like something a crackhead would say. Are you married?
I'm going on 11 great years. She let's me still hunt as much as I'd like. The only difference is when my 2 little girls ask me to stay home...
Treat her like you'd want her to treat you.

MSB said it best:
-- its something you have to work at, every day.
-- don't ever go to bed mad at each other. work it out first, even if it takes all night.
-- learn to say "I'm Sorry" even if it is not your fault, or you don't feel that way. it will get you to a point where you can talk it out.
-- don't ever ever say the word 'divorce'. it should not even be an option, and should never be mentioned in any conversation, even in anger or in jest.
-- you marry her family as much as you marry her. win them over too...
-- its hard as hell to stay married...[/quote]
It's as hard as work but twice the reward. There are some other things to keep in mind
1)Buy all the toys you need for the next two years before you get married (guns, clothes, golf clubs ect) This way she won't keep to tight a eye on you. She'll think your prudent and let you manage the check book
2)You keep control of the money. It's a hell of a lot easier for me to slip a few dollars into a hunting trip than my buddies who let their wives manage there funds. You can't let the left hand know what the right hand is doing ---like my grandmom said.
3)One piece of ass for the rest of you life
Let that sink in for a while
A bit longer
4)Always believe that you will stay together to for ever. There are no
other options. Don't ever even think about anything else. If you believe there are no other options then you will work at it harder.
5)Never lay a hand on another woman. They are like alcohol to a whino. One taste of the forbidden fruit and no tellin what you may do.
6)Keep some time and hobbies to yourself for your piece of mind. Personally I'd go mad if i did every thing with my wife. Hunting, golf,MSDUCKS, are my hobbies and my time. Picnics, yardwork, perch jerkin are things we do togehter.
7)Marriage has never helped a sick relationship. If your relationship is rocky then marriage will make it worse.
Good luck and don't ever look back.
