I'm thinking I will just bake him a casserole with sardines, marsh mellows, apples and Nilla Wafers topped with peanut butter that ought to cover it.
I would go in a trap for that.
He didnt mention moon pies!

A little advice from experience:
Make sure u kill the coons you catch. Do not take them a few miles down the road and turn them loose! They will come back! I trapped some where I use to work for my boss man. We would have a coon every other day! We finally sprayed some orange spray paint on him and we trapped him again two days later!
So, I took him about 5 miles away, 2 days later, we had another coon in the trap with orange paint on his leg! So, I killed him! Took about 2 weeks to trap another one! Just thought I would let u know.
Also, you will never "eradicate" coins from a place! They have such a large territory!

+1 They've been known to roam 20-30 miles.

I trapped about 5 or 6 last year that would get in my garbage. I just used cheep can of cat food for bait. Didn't have any problem catching them.
I took them off probably no more than 2 or 3 miles down the road. I dropped them off next to a corn field so may be why the never came back.
The probably liked the new home better.
I still have a few running around, but no more in my garbage cans.

Call my eight year old. He is the live trap master. He's caught every coon, possum, cat etc within a ten mile radius. He comes running up the other day with a cat so fat I think he shoved the dang thing in there, fur was sticking two inches out of the sides. I asked what are you gonna do now. I don't know dad cats are always real mad in the cage. He opens it up and has to shake the cage to get that thing to pop out. Cat hits the ground scratches mason and hauls booty. "Dang dad that's one badazzz cat". Son don't say stuff like that around mama.

I worked in Minnesota right out of college. Landowner wanted me to trap to help the nesting pheasants, turkey, and quail. He told me he'd give me a hundred bucks for every cat with a collar I caught. Had to have picture proof of it alive, in the trap, with a collar on. Caught the 1st one and thought "I'll go to town, buy a collar, slap it on fluffy, and make an extra hundred." There ain't no way in hell I'm sticking my arm in a live trap with a cat in it. Them things are ferocious! Caught quite a few cats, but never made that extra hundred bucks.

My grandfather had a similar experience one time. Coons kept getting in his feeders and he decided he could build a better trap than he could buy. So he proceeds to build himself a collapsible door live trap out of wood and sets it out. Damn thing worked like a charm, only problem was you couldn't see what the hell you had caught until you opened the door and took a look inside. The first skunk he caught slowed the trapping down a bit, but it was the bobcat that put a hault to it all together! My grandfather said he about chat himself we he peeked in that trap and saw nothing but eyes and teeth and the most gawdawful squalling he'd ever heard in his life. By the time he laid his .38 down that trap looked like swiss cheese.

cat food works like a charm. It, to no suprise, will catch cats or opossums. But coons (the real kind any how) really like cat food. Probably b/c it wreaks to high heaven. Even dry cat food works.
But racoons eat just about anything, so as long as it looks like something a trash eater would love, it will work. I remember a day after the crawfish parties at my frat house, we would have every coon and skunk on the MSU campus roaming around. I bet some crawfish remains would be top notch bait.
Just plink the one(s) you catch with a pellet gun in the cage.
