Cats fall from high rises often enough that it has been labeled "high rise syndrome" amazingly, most of them survive! This has actually been studied and its seems sometimes cats falling from higher distance survive better than falling from lower distance. And above a certain number of stories up, it doesn't matter how high they are. They will actually reach maximum velocity at some point and land on their feet. Below is a link to an abstract of a paper studying high rise syndrome. You can also google it.

he11 they have nine lives i'm sure they only use a few if they fall from that high up, assuming a dryer ride is only 1 or 2 lives, did that thing have static electricity popping and arcing all over it's body?

in seriousness i hope your wife realizes it was not intentional on her part and can feel a little better once the cat starts recovering

Update...the cat is alive, she was sedated, examined, and monitored all day...she doesn't appear to have any major injuries but she bit her tongue pretty bad. She was waking up from the sedation this evening but we let the vet keep her tonight, the issue is whether there could be any brain damage from the heat. Her body temps are normal and we're cautiously optimistic. He's gotta monitor her further tomorrow.

This happen cause she's an inside cat and her litter and food is in the laundry room, she gotten in the dryer sleeping in the clothes in there. My wife threw some work clothes in to tumble for work tis morning while she was getting ready for work, it was just a freak accident, she's never gotten in the dryer before. Wife is pretty upset, she's had the cat since before we got married, 9 years now and it's lived inside it's whole life. She was really close to the cat, and it's been traumatic.

We've got a few inside cats and they have gotten in the dryer before. Fortunately, we haven't run on through the dryer yet but it's easy to see and understand how it happened. We have just got in the habit of looking before we close the door and running it.

I knew a guy that would put his rabbit beagles in the dryer with a deer hide, to keep them from running deer, always thought that was a bit extreme!

Cats home and doing ok...if you'd clean that dryer you would be as amazed as I am that it's alive! Tough little creature
