Delusion meets reality in Birmingham Alabama on January 5th.
Here are some pros and cons of a potential trip to the Magic City...
Cons:
- Bowl no longer sponsored by Papa Johns, so pizza swag likely replaced with pens, envelope openers and banking brochures.
- Birmingham ranks in the top five American cities for incidences of rape and property crime and No. 7 for violent crimes. Watch where you park!
Pros:
- Make fun of Pitt fans for having to come to B'ham 3 years in a row.
- Take the 45 minute drive down to Tuscaloosa; Visit Bryant Museum, drive around stadium a few times; place stupid signs on statues.
Good luck.
P.S. Not really a shot at Ole Miss...moreso how big of a caca hole downtown B'ham is. Enjoy!
Congrats to Ole Miss - BBVA Bowl

If you are into running go visit Oak Mountain State Park. Awesome trail running.

Gonna be a drive in and drive out game for me, not enough to do to keep me there overnight when its only a 2 hour drive from home.

When life serves you lemons, then make lemonade. As a Rebel fan who has endured two straight previous horrendous seasons , I am just happy to be going to a bowl game -- any bowl game -- even one in Birmingham, Ala. Our goal is to set the attendance record for this bowl and literally take over the city for a day. I'll be there with as many Rebs as I can muster. Planning to organize a private bus trip with a driver. Party on wheels. Go over that morn on 1/5 for the noon kickoff and return that same day.
I like the matchup with Pitt, a team the Rebs have never played, a team with great tradition. Looking forward to it.
If I discover more fun to be had in B'ham, we may make it a two day trip.

You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning.

Dine at the Bright Star in Bessemer, AL - a mere 10 minute drive from Legion Field. Thank me later. One of the best.
