Since the DS brain trust is better than google, I figured that I would ask. I have a brand new trailer. Why don't the running lights work? The brake and turn signals work fine.
Thoughts? Thanks.

Check your ground. Always the best place to start.

+1. Check your ground and all other connections first then start looking for shorted wires(rubbed, pinched, cut, and what not)Deltaduk wrote:Check your ground. Always the best place to start.

Check fuse in truck too there is a different fuse for running lights, brakes and blinkers
Re: Trailer lights question
Ground and fuse - best place to start. Try hooking to another vehicle if possible. If a boat trailer, look for bulb failure.

Or simply get use to it. There will always be a problem with trailer lights.

Re: Trailer lights question
Probably not the ground if the other lights are working. I would lean toward the fuse, bad wire or connection. Maybe a bad bulb.

Re: Trailer lights question
It is a new '12 chevy. If it is the fuse, won't it continue to blow?orange68 wrote:More than likely fuse under hood if its a newer chevy
I pulled the manual and here are my fuse options. Which one would it be?
Right Trailer Stop/Turn
Left Trailer Stop/Turn
Trailer Break
Trailer Back Up
That is all that references Trailers.
Thanks,

Re: Trailer lights question
Look under the hood in that fuse panel. It will probally be a 15 amp fuse labeled like tlr park.
Re: Trailer lights question
I think you may have to install the fuse, as in it didn't come with one from the factory. I seem to remember doing that when I installed m trailer brake controller -- installing two new fuses.
